My phone mic is broken so it doesn't pick up sound. I need a good pocket sound meter I can keep in my purse. Something that isn't 70 USD haha.

Suggestions?

I understand your reasons for wanting a sound meter @Taylorslay. You are doing well with your recovery and I don't think you need one. All it will do is reinforce negative thinking that normal everyday sounds can be harmful and this isn't the case. Loud sounds doesn't necessarily mean harmful. If I were you I'd forget about sound Apps and concentrate on enjoying life and leaving tinnitus and hyperacusis far behind me. Of course be careful and try not to get caught up in going to places were there is overly loud sounds such as a club or concert without using "noise reducing" earplugs. You can go to these places but exercise some caution and attend occasionally and not 3 or 4 times a week.

You just need to be sensible and I think you'll be fine. Try not to make tinnitus and hyperacusis become a focal point in your life because you don't need it.
All the best

Unfortunately I don't think you will find a reliable db meter for less than 200 USD.

Go with Michael's advice and try not expose yourself to dangerous levels of noise. Being on the street you probably won't encounter any dangerous sound levels and if you do your brain will be sure to alarm you so you will have the time to protect yourself by walking away without any harm.
