Tinnitus Since
not sure, likely 10+years
Cause of Tinnitus
don't know maybe loud sounds
Is it normal for one with tinnitus that with every (hard) bite he hears more tinnitus. In my case it is a high frequency sound that doesn't sound like my ordinary tinnitus?

I think it didn't appear before.

Thanks.

I do not have any joint pain ... not ear pain. Should I have some type of pain if I had TMJ?

It does not have to be anything with TMJ, I have the same just a bit ... google somatosensory tinnitus you will find a lot more info. All the best Wojtek

Can also be anxiety....one thing you notice something and you mind get focused on it and there you have it. Ask around almost everybody who turn their head..grind there teeth or whatever here a sound.

You are perhaps just to focused on it and did not notice it before and the more you pay attention to it the louder it will get...just like T. You can talk yourself into an illness if you want. This is just my 2 cents....been there , done that...had the thing you said also....and it was all anxiety and passes when anxiety goes down and your alertlevel of your brain goes down. There are 1000 symptoms of anxiety where you almost think you have an illness or TMJ or what ever. Most of it is anxiety because you body goes in an alert state when you have T and a symptom is that some somatic sounds become more into awareness. Nothing to worry about.....

And if I bite hard on my teeth I also hear a new tone ....... so I just do not bite on my teeth for no reason. Because when you notice this you will also going to notice it when you eating. And perhaps than you go to swallowing and hear you ear make a click sound.

Perhaps if you stand on one hand.....eat a donut and jump rope at the same time you hear crickets in your left ear....perhaps you should stop doing that also than :beeranimation: In other words...do not search for a problem if there isn't any. Most people with T notice more somatic sound ....the least attention you pay to it it will fade in to unconcious again.

I am sometimes anxious, but it had never caused me any sound not pain. Actually all the diagnosis I had that claimed that something was because of anxiety were 100% wrong. So the anxiety is likely not the cause.

It can hardly be that I didn't notice it before because it is pretty lound, but then again who know. I also do louder tinitus once I close my ear with fingers but thats normal I guess.

It doesn't increase it permanently just while I am chewing the food.

Watch for the ear pain. I do not have tmj, but lousy ear pain. muscle is hitting my ear drum, I guess. Muscle spasm of the cheek.

Do you think this is the only bcause of your tinitus or it just moduletes it.

I read a bit about the somatosensory tinnitus. Still I didn't get if it is normal tinitus that is modulated by for example jaw movement, or it is entirelly another kind of tinitus that can be cured?

Did you manage to decrease it somehow?

Also the sound is only increases once I bite, then I hear a high-frequence sound and then it disapeers. The remaining tinitus still stay here, of course.

You should not put your fingers in your ear and listen to your T. That is an OCD thing which relates to anxiety. But I am not here to convince you but all the things you say I have been through. Sticking my fingers in my ear .. monitoring your T....does it get louder or not etc etc....and you say you do not have anxiety.....o_O

That the whole problem....if you SUFFER from T ....and you do not have any anxiety about it than you are not bothered by it ...and you do not monitor it etc etc. You do not pay attention to extra somatic sounds.

And yes my T also get louder when I put my fingers in my ears....I also die when I get hit by a car that drives 100 miles an hour so I also do not do that.

Give it time and perhaps it will go away...same happend to me.... and I guess a million others.
I am off..... I do not want to post to much anymore....but I saw you struggle a bit and just want to add in my opinion. Take it for what it is and I hope you will get better.

I came from monster T to now much milder T....I wanted to type a succes story , but the moment I do that my T gets louder. So perhaps I am scared T get louder when I post it and my brain follows.......anxiety!!

We I didn't say I am not anxious ... sometimes I am. But that doesn't effect much of things for me.

The thing with finger in ear is just a test, I do not do this all the time .. just when I want to check out if my T got louder.

However I find your post usefull. Thanks.

It is pretty hard not to pay attention and not be bothered by T when it is always there.

I am glad that I put post last night. It is my jaw causing the tinnitus.

Only from the jaw?

This happens to me all the time and it's definitely related to TMJ. Worse TMJ symptoms, louder ring when I bite.

Do you have tininus only when biting? I am not sure what the synptoms of TMJ are, but I do not have any pain in my jaw. Maybe a bit of stiffness in check muscles, but it could be that I am wrong.

@Zok nah i have tinnitus 24/7. and, i have lots of jaw symptoms from years of clenching and grinding, my jaw easily dislocates on the side with my worse T, sometimes quite painfully. it was a gradual and slow slide there, though... IIRC the first symptom was just lactic acid release pain when chewing. I have widespread and numerous muscle trigger point symptoms and problems, though I live with them well and mostly none of this bothers me much at all.

Dont worry, I have it too. I got my T from A hearing damage ( way too loud noise) if I eat, especially something relativily hard then my T gets louder, higher pitch.

It just sucks man...

Yeah, I hope they will make a cure with MSDM or something else soon.

It seems that mine get louder ... I mean more noise after 4 days of PPI. But previous time I think it was just temporally.

How did you lowered it .. I guess it not just doing nothing. Did you take something .. magnesium, zink maybe?

tinnitus sucks. put your two cents too. Medical doctors can not do anything about it. I went to emergency to get help, the emergency doctor said We Don't do ears. (lol). My tinnitus come from the flu.
Good luck to you, guy, I tried a lot of stuff. ask. I must have a laundry baskets full of vitamins, etc. herbs. you name it. I got it.
p.s. even the ear antiobios.
