- Who am I kidding, its got to be noise :/
Hi everyone,
I was curious if anyone has had a bad experience with inserting an earplug too fast. I was wondering, because I had something similar happen to me when I was at the audiologist and they did an Otoacoustic Emissions test. They were unable to get the rubber earpiece (kind of like an earplug or earbud) into my ear and the technician applied pressure and it still wouldn't go in. It then suddenly aligned with my ear canal and entered rapidly. I had a brief moment of pain. This was over a year or two ago, yet that ear feels like it clicks and cracks more than the other. I try to move my jaw to have it pop and I feel like my eardrum or Eustachian Tube is moving. It is also the side where I feel like my nose is chronically stuffy.
Could such a sudden insertion have permanently stretched my eardrum or caused permanent damage? I have had the ear looked at since then and the eardrum was not perforated.
This has been bugging me lately.
Thanks.
