Craniosacral Therapy (Julian Cowan Hill, etc.)

Guys I recommend you all read up on Jody Wisternoff.

He had suicidal bad noise induced tinnitus. He still has T, but now it's "in a silent room".

He says this is due to calming his limbic system. It's not bullshit. Will you ever have silence? NO. But it can calm a LOT.

It would be nice if there were a cure but it's not happening yet!
Hope is the best we can get, just don't get sucked into thinking that someone can cure your tinnitus over a two year period!
But the flip side is it's possible to recenter your thoughts especially when you're spiking and hopefully not hold onto the tension that's building up and just try and relax yourself and your mind.
Just wish that it was that easy!!!
Good luck [emoji1417]

I'm not convinced TRT does much but if it helps people good. There is a long list of people that used it
That are back to professional music. Wisternoff and Andy Timmons are two hat seem to be doing well.

I know a guy that ran a prominent NYC record store who used it to great success. He DJs at clubs again after having severe H.

Yep, I'm fairly indifferent about it too. There is many clinical studies supporting sound therapies by aiding habituation and reduction in anexity from tinnitus. It's basically our only current "treatment" we have too :)

Have been reading a lot of stuff on the net recently about acoustic neuromodulation reset just lately so much that it seems as though it may be real.Look up "hindawi" and or peter tass germany.I can only hope it is true.

I can't say Julian Cowan is a charlaton but I can't say he isn't either. I'm not in the position to really judge his work without actually testing it for myself but from other accounts he is a charlaton. It never hurts to test it out yourself even if there is no outcome from it.

Are there any scientific studies that show Craniosacal Therapy has the ability to actually eliminate, or lower, symptoms of tinnitus?

If you have easily masked tinnitus and money to waste, you can just enjoy a session. It won't help your tinnitus though. It will mostly relax you. Otherwise save your money.

I would rather say that he's a nice businessman.;)

Yeah, probably so. I do have one of his kindle books. Abraham Shulman would know more but he seems to be retired and his research center has relocated to southern Florida. I was wondering if they had anything new besides gabapentin/klonopin.

Yes, I actually agree. I truly believe that he wants to help people. He is a very soft spoken gentleman and very professional. Basically, it was a very soft massage, very similar to ASMR. I think he can help people with general anxiety, however tinnitus is one of those things that can't be treated by light touching, etc. x

Has anyone read Julian Cowall Hill's book with any degree of success?
He has written several books. His latest one is really good. It gives really good insight into why you have tinnitus in the first place. He talks about being in "Red Alert Mode" and offers some helpful suggestions.

I'm reading "T - from Tyrant to Friend."

After reading about Julian and his experience with Cranio Sacral Therapy I got my hopes up and went for 9 sessions (with a local therapist). I have had a permanent migraine for 11 years now and had spinal surgery 12 years ago so I have other issues. In the first session not much happened apart from the fact that I burst into tears when I sat up. In the third session back pain that I had not experienced for around 8 years came back full force for around 3 weeks which was rather frightening. The next session spiked my tinnitus and sent my anxiety which I had managed to calm sky high. I also got a painful tingling in my back and buttocks during this time and that has been going on for about 6 weeks now. The next few sessions spiked my tinnitus each time and also flared up my migraine pain. Whenever I told the therapist about what was going on I was simply told that it was the process which wasn't reassuring at all. On my last session my migraine pain went up to a level I haven't felt in 5 years and hasn't gone back down since (it's been 3 weeks now). Understandably I cancelled my next session and won't be going back.

It does something, I mean my migraine is worse and my back is worse and now I have new symptoms. It spiked my tinnitus on many occasions and my tinnitus is no better after 9 sessions. This is just my experience though. Maybe it might help someone else but it's been a hard and upsetting process for me.

I did read a document by Julian stating that doing release work in cranio sacral therapy activates the nervous system and sends tinnitus beserk and he doesn't recommend that for people with severe tinnitus - I showed her the document in the last appointment and she said it made sense. Who knows. I won't be trying that again any time soon.

@Jason E

Craniosacral therapy for tinnitus is just pseudoscience and very close to a scam. Don't waste your time and money with non-sense gibberish. It takes time to accept this crazy condition and part of it is going through this pointless exercise of trying stupid treatments. I wish I had known this fact five years ago.
