What was the anti inflammatory you were given and what for? Did they see anything in your ear that they prescribed this for?I think I might have something similar to that guy.
I got Sinus for two or three times and some years back I gained a strange "thing" behind my eye.
It appeared when I was trying to quit smoking. And disappeared after I started to smoke again.
Some years later out of nowhere my hears started ringing.
I went to my GP and she prescribed me some anti-inflammatory medicines for a week and the T slowed down.
Since it didn't disappeared I went to the ENT and stopped taking the anti-inflammatory and started taking ginkgo biloba (for three weeks now). But things only got worst.
Yesterday I realized I was better with the anti-Inflammatory and took some. Today my T is better (30%) and only ringed in one of the ears for most of the day.
I don't recall getting much better then this in the week I took the anti-inflammatory. I suppose it masks the T but it doesn't get better then this.
I'll receive my MRI tomorrow. I hope that they find some good news in there.

Hang in there, God bless!..things will get betterI am going into my 10th week of ringing (high pitched) in tone. I had a sinus infection that lasted over 6 weeks and the ringing started during the sinus infection, The ENT said I had hearing loss with drop off in the high frequency range. Since my diagnosis with a sinus infection and bronchitis 6 weeks ago I have been on 3 different rounds of antibiotics and a steroid regime which helped my sinus infection and cough but did nothing for my ears ringing. I am suffering now with mostly one ear ringing in addition to this I do have high blood pressure but it is controlled. My doctor has changed my blood pressure medication which included a diarrhetic 2x daily, thinking that possibly my medication change might stop the ringing. I have also tried lipo-flavonoids plus, which my ENT says helps some people, but for me I have yet to see any changes…I tired the Ring Relief Homeopathic ear drops and oral pills also, these did nothing. I've had an MRI contrast and also of the of sinus, neck and brain w/o any clear answers. The MRI did show my neck had some degeneration in my disk which has been there for over 10 years. I also have TMJ and recently had a new mouth bite alignment appliance made and have been wearing it for 3 weeks with no results. In addition to all this I had several knee surgeries and take the drug celebrex so researching this drug for side effects. My family doctor wants me to try Sudafed Liquid daily for my allergies and also try reducing caffeine and alcohol. Still ringing and still praying for relief from this torture.
Personally believe that my ears were effected by my ear and sinus infections because this is when everything started.

I saw two ENT and the first one literally I feel took my money with a smile and said, "sorry this is no cure for tinnitus" I was so frustrated and sought another opinion who at least ordered some testing and gave me some other medications and nasal spray. I am still battling it now after 9 weeks.
Jay I am highly allergic and I live in surrounded by oak trees, there is no question that all my sinus issues were allergy induced. I am trying the liquid sudafed (children's was all I could find in liquid) and the one for stuffy nose, not for cough and cold. I used is yesterday and it seemed to help me for awhile. This morning it's back and I just took my second dose, which is double the 11 and up children's dosage. I will be curious to see if it helps. Do you have anything other that allergies such as high blood pressure or TMJ (misaligned jaw issues) or are you a night teeth grinder? I have covered all my bases I know to cover at this time. Just hoping and praying this subsides!
Add: SSRIs, per my psychiatrist. From reading your description, the cause of your tinnitus could easily lie elsewhere (= blood pressure medication).
There are three main groups of drugs which can cause tinnitus - they are:
Chemotherapy agents
Aminoglycoside antibiotics
Loop diuretics
Improved but not gone. For what still remains I've come to accept and try not to stress over it. The noise sucks but what can we do? I hope it continues to improve.
There's been a lot of exciting hope from a thread about retigabine.

Please be careful of using noise masking devices in your ear. I've read it can make T worse.
