I'm a freshman in college and this is my second semester. I'm wondering if anyone has gotten extra help or any services for their tinnitus when they are in the classroom. My parents want me to file for disability at my school but I'm scared that tinnitus and hyperacusis doesn't qualify for disability. I had sudden hearing loss in my right ear a couple years ago. After treatment I regained up to 90% of my hearing back but now have tinnitus in both my ears. Is it worth it to go through the long process of declaring for disability at my school or should I just deal with it on my own?

Yes certainly do it.

Definitly do it. Universities are very understanding about these things. A friend of mine got disibality for condition where he always trembles and another friend got it for myoclonus. They gave them an hour extra for every exam. Or sometimes let them sit in a seperate classroom so they aren't disturbed by the large numbers of students during the exams.
