Desloratadine 5 mg

Been suffering from tinnitus for a year now and things got a little better till 3 weeks ago when I cought a virus.. it wasn't so bad but a week later I developed a new low pitch tinnitus in my left ear which wasn't ringing till now
Since I feel like the virus is gone but my ears keep popping in and out and feels blocked.
I'm thinking it might be allergies because it feels a bit like ETD and my tinnitus started last fall with similar symptoms.
My GP gave me Desloratadine 5mg but on the rare side effects it says tinnitus which makes me scared To try it..
Any thoughts?

do you know how many drugs list tinnitus as rare side effect?

maybe 90% or thereabout!!

don't be afraid to take the drug.

As someone that has tinnitus as a consequence of a drug allergy (just to be clear, not strictly speaking ototoxicity), my personal advice is that if there is a suggestion of allergies being involved, it is worth a shot. Loratidine is considered one of the safest anti-histamines available and I have never found it worsened my tinnitus - but we are all different. However, if you notice any negative changes whatsoever to you hearing, you need to stop immediately.
