Hi there,

A few weeks ago I woke up with a very loud and high pitch tinnitus. At first it would stay for 2-3 days and then either be completely silent or almost noticeable. However, now it's driving me nuts and I have to take sleeping pills to be able to relax a bit. Doctor simply told me that this cannot be healed and offered antidepressants :(

I noticed that I can influence the pitch and volume of the constant hissing by either turning my head very far to the left, or by pressing on a bit harder around the left ear. The sounds seem to be in the middle of the head, but as mentioned on the left side I can influence it a bit. Touching the right side or turning the head to the right doesn't make a difference.

Has anyone here experienced this and can offer some advice as to what to do? I am desperate, I haven't been able to work for 2 days last week, and I don't know how I am supposed to make through a full day tomorrow.

Thanks so much!

If I turn my head to the left, the noise in my ears would go up temporarily and go down once my neck position is back to the neutral position. I don't know what this all means, maybe neck issues is causing the tinnitus and hyperacusis?

I can make my tinnitus rev up louder by turning my head to the left (mildly to the right), yawning, chewing, talking, touching my cheek, pressing on my scalp, raising my eye brows and blinking. It has nothing to do with the neck or jaw. Just somatosensory tinnitus. I can't work at all anymore. Every day must be carefully managed to survive it.
