Hi Everyone,

My name is Petra. I'm 40 years old and I have recently started to suffer from tinnitus. Mine is persistent in both ears, high-pitched noise, I hear it all day and night. I'm absolutely desperate as it's causing me a lot of distress.

I am currently looking for possible causes. I have underactive thyroid and I'm currently experimenting with the medication I'm taking, in case that could be the cause. The medication caused me trouble in the past.

However, I have noticed I started experiencing tinnitus a few days after visiting a theme park, and was wondering if anyone has similar experience? Could a roller coster ride have caused this? I never had problems with loud places, so I don't think that would be the case...

I'll be grateful for any help, advice and words of support.

Thank you.

Roller coasters can be very loud.

It seems we just accumulate damage. Eventually something happens that breaks the camel's back.

Thank you for your input.

Is there any over the counter relief treatment you've tried and could recommend, please?
There is no cure. Stay away from noise and hope for the best. If your tinnitus onset is within a month, you could try steroid injections, but it is risky and off-label treatment.

I highly doubt a roller coaster caused your tinnitus. Thyroid issues have been known to cause tinnitus. I am sure once that is under control, the tinnitus will lessen. Please bring it up to your specialist and get a hearing test done with an audiologist.

I was hoping it would be the medication, because that would be easily altered.

However, according to my search history, I started researching tinnitus 3 days after visiting the theme park. Which seemed like too much of a coincidence.

Nevertheless, I am having blood tests and will be seeing an audiologist.

Thank you for your reply.
