DIY Low-Level Laser Therapy for Tinnitus on a Budget — LLLT Under 100,-

I am using only the Red Light Man at the moment. I think it likely the angle of the Konftec laser is such that it is not hitting my cochlea. The advantage of the Konftec is that it does not have to penetrate the skull. But it might miss the cochlea. The Red Light Man must penetrate a lot of bone first, requiring a higher dose, but it does not miss because it covers such a bigger area. So pros and cons to both.
 
This is a fairly old presentation (from 2009) but I do not recall it having been posted before. Results (pages 16 and 18) mention self-reported improvement in tinnitus. Looks like the type of light used was LED rather than laser.

in gratitude for his assistance in treating my condition Some 20 years back
I had synovial sarcoma with unfavorable prognosis.

As a specialist Doctor in biochemistry, he helped me to treat my illness and
prevented the option of having to ampute my leg.
It's been 20 years since my illness and I'm still alive today.

Dr. Haas. is 75 years old today and in 2015 he suffered a brain impact.

Since October 2015 he can not speak anymore.

He can read and understands everything what we tell him and he can function
alone with little help and partly write with left hand.
I am taking care of him. I am however trying to seek a therapy for him so
that he can talk again.

I have found reports on regeneration of brain stem cells", "Stem Cell Treatment for Traumatic Brain Injury" with Dr Steenblock
and I found different posts about Low Leser device for treatment for Traumatic brain injury

Unfortunately it will be realky challenging for me to travel with Dr Haas for treatment to California to Dr Steenblock due to his condition is impossible.
I will try to find and maybe is it possible to get a a low-level laser device for treatment for Traumatic brain injury here in forum.

I could read Low-level laser/light therapy (LLLT) is the very last treatment and its used to restore
of brain function after serious concussions, toxic mold exposure and multiple psychiatric prescriptions.

I am just looking at the extraordinarily high price of the Vielight 810 Infrared device ($499) and the Vielight 633 Red device ($299)
and wearable devices at the forefront of brain photobiomodulation Vielight Neuro Alpha ($1,749.00)

We already know that we can buy the red LEDs or infrared LEDs contained in these Vielight devices for less than $1 and 850nm Infrared Laser Diode than (US $5.9)!?

A cheap home-made unit for a few dollars should allow people to experiment with laser and light therapy without paying out $hundreds.
Do you think that is possible?

I would be so appreciative if you can help me find this Low-Level-Laser Devices " for treatment.
If you know someone who had Low Leser device for treatment for Traumatic brain
injury maybe can provide me this.
Maybe can someone sell me cheap a such device or someone with something technical can made me one...please let me know.

Light can penetrate the skull and reach the brain, so the eardrum should be a mild barrier compared to the skull.

Professor Michael Hamblin of Harvard Medical School has published extensively on treating the brain with light therapy, one example at the link. An except on penetration through the skull into the brain:

"They found that 808 nm light was best and could reach a depth in the brain of 40–50 mm."

But ATP is just what the cells are fueled by. I'm not sure how increased ATP could lead to full on regeneration. Also, the laser will definitely stop at the eardrum and at that point it is just light. Then from there the light surely cannot penetrate the cochlea. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Light reduces inflammatory reactions and provides the cell with energy to affect repairs.

So far, I've located the following:
1. 20w LED light (eBay)
2. heat sink (eBay)
3. still locating a power source (power cord I guess and figuring out how to hook that up)

I have no idea how this would work and may not work since it is not a pointed direct beam of LED light like I've seen with some machines with pointers.

The good news is that I don't have much to lose since it will only cost about $35 (US dollars) to try..

I don't think it'd work for ears. Concentrating through the eardrums would be ideal since they'd target the cochlea more directly. Also eardrums are more transparent.

Yeah. I think that drops in the ears to rid of T is not a good idea.

I tried some over the counter stuff when I first got T and it obviously didn't work.

I'm trying the ACV in water to drink though.
 
I want to be a believer, but tinnitus is very complex, and often times there is no meaningful explanation why T spikes or settles down over time. The success stories seem to include a lot more variables than just light, such as time, diet, exercise, hearing protection, etc. I can't tell if this is anecdotal.

It's more than just success stories. There is actual science to it. There has been multiple studies that have shown that light actually enhances the healing process, especially with nerves. It has even been shown to enhance the healing abilities of the spine. What LLLT does is excite the cells and enhance the mitochondrial function, making them more capable of healing. I've read articles about the effectiveness towards skin, nerves, inflammation, tissue, and even the brain. I think that the effectiveness towards the brain, nerves, and inflammation are important factors in considering the scientific validity of ear LLLT to make it worth investigating. There have also been scientific articles that showed that it does indeed have some effect on the ears.


I've used Wilden's treatment recently, and I personally have had some good results. That is... until I foolishly tried to have the device on for three hours a day when I was apparently supposed to have it for 15-30 minutes. (I get lost in reading) I think I ended up giving myself temporary threshold shifts without realizing it. Anyway, just don't abuse it like I did, and you should have some positive results. Even if the results are slight improvement, that's better than nothing.

I also recommend at least looking into the Konftech devices... They are comparatively cheaper than Wilden's device, and sound like they have more power. Don't know if the power is a good thing, but the price is at least attractive enough to consider it. ~$700 vs $2,600.

I mean I had the laser on too long to where my ears felt full with less sound quality afterwards and buzzing happened. It didn't last very long, but was still uncomfortable. I figured out that it was caused by overdoing the treatment. Prior to this I did have some positive results. According to the Starkey hearing test app, which I used like crazy before and developed an understanding and consistency towards, I regained some hearing I lost. It was slight, but noticeable. The 4khz tone had more beeps that I could hear. There was a point where I couldn't hear those.

LLLT seems to work for me, but 3 hours is overkill.

I thought once those hairs fail and break off, they are gone and don't regenerate. Isn't that what causes the hearing loss resulting in tinnitus?

that's what many intelligent people think.

the truth is that until we can replace those cells and see if that alleviates shitnittus we wont actually know.
frequencytx is doing this right now and this knowledge will manifest between now and a month from now.

I believe that hearing loss is more complex than just that... There are multiple factors that could cause a loss of hearing quality, including but not limited to synapse ribbon damage, inflammation, damage of the hair cell "branches", hair cell bend (not break) etc. LLLT on hearing is a bit confusing even to me, but there is enough valid science and believable reported results for me to accept it. Also, LLLT doesn't completely repair everything in hearing. There is a limit. However, I think that even 20%, which was suggested by Wilden, is sufficient. A little is better than nothing.

Personally, I think that the LLLT results probably has something to do with the inflammation and minor damage to the synapse, hair cells, and surrounding areas, and that's why it has an effect.

Thanks for your answer. Did you experiment with splitting up the dosage? Like 10 min x 10 times a day? I can imagine that our receptors were designed to absorb a small amount of sunlight a day, much like plants. :)

Good for blood pressure and gut flora. that's about it though. I do this 2-3 times a week for that reason. Certainly won't help tinnitus.

As soon as I get my device back for repair I might do that.

Anyone have experience with using Led Laser or LLLT for hyperacusis?

Regarding your question, I like you to read this PDF document. It helped me a lot, and I have been at Mr. Kaiser and Mr. Wilden several times and I can especially recommend Kaiser, as my tinnitus vanished slowly with the help of him (+Vitamins, please see my other posts in this DIY thread (I think its about page 10ff).
