Dizziness and Off Balance — Anybody Else Have That Along with Tinnitus?

Hiya. I've had tinnitus (pulsating tinnitus at times) constantly for over 8 years, fluctuating up and down. I've had a panic disorder for over 20 years.

My question is does anyone suffer dizziness and off balance with their tinnitus?

That is somewhat common because the ear is responsible for both balance and hearing, and tinnitus is a sign that hearing is damaged. You should make an appointment with a doctor however to see if the problem is treatable.

Hi, I've had t for 14 months,and I was given a test involving air blown into both ears. The results showed a 42 percent balance problem on the right side. I was told that the unaffected side compensates, but I can tell that overall my balance is not what it should be. I'm very careful going down stairs and moving around tight spaces.

Yes, I have dizzy spells and feel off balance. Sometimes the feeling is definitely vertigo.

Se an Ear Specialist not an ENT, There are treatments for Vertigo.

I find that regular exercise (especially cardio) along with a healthy diet eliminates balance/dizziness for me

I have been diagnosed with BPPV, and infected Eustachian tube, both of which can cause vertigo and Tinnitus. There are crystals in the inner ear that can dislodged, and move to areas where they should't, including the eyes. The eyes signal the brain, and the brain interprets it as being off balance when one isn't. This condition is not dangerous in itself, and there are exercises that can be done to "retrain" the brain. The condition usually self corrects, but can take time, and it can recur in about 37% of cases sometime in a five year period. The Eustachian tube is designed to adjust pressure in the inner ear, and it can cause vertigo if not working properly. I strongly suggest you see a balance therapist or ENT for analysis. I had vertigo before. They have treatments for it. They explained it as the crystals in your ear moving out of position.
I would request that your dr provide you with a referral at a physiotherapy place that deals with vertigo and vestibular disorders. They can test for it and maybe advise you further.
