So last Saturday I was involved in a hefty rear end collision. The sound of metal on metal is pretty loud. On top of that, I got whiplash from the accident. I am unsure if car accidents (via noise) can cause hearing loss or not. I cannot precisely recall just how loud the noise was, with it being either very loud or very loud but muffled from me being inside the car.

It won't be until, earliest, the end of June until I can get an audiogram done. Meaning Prednisone is also off the table until then. My hearing seems slightly muffled, but I constantly fear having hearing loss so I can't say. Overall I can functionally hear, but does anyone here have any experience in this realm? And what I should do? My PCP (American GP) has referred me, but that's all he'll do until there is a test. Advice?

Sorry about your accident.
Aside from the Prednisone (which may or may not help) there is not much of anything you can do for hearing loss at this time.
Did you have any pre-existing hearing issues before the collision?
