Do you believe in magic sorcery (sorceresses), which can enchant, spoil the person, thereby spoiling his life. And in general in black magic? We have one wicked grandmother in our neighborhood. My father is sure that she is an evil sorceress engaged in black magic.

Could she somehow influence the appearance of noise? Could we be deceived by envious persons?

Wherever there is good there is evil. I have an open mind on this subject for almost anything is possible.

My wife would say yes. She believes in "evil eye", and that some people just have a general bad energy. I don't believe in literal curses, but I just think these types of people can cause you grief if they think bad about you.

Where i came from in Europe, yes we do and we are superstitious, but i am not sure if i believe in it. Tinnitus was solely caused by me and my utter stupidity to listen to IPod at loud volume while running and siting next to a speaker at a concert.

Sorry. Wasn't aware that this was the 14th century.

Amazingly, in this day and age, there are people in some parts of the world who are still being convicted of witchcraft, and sometimes actually sentenced to death. One of my female ancestors was hung in Salem, Mass., along with 18 others, in 1692, during the witch hunt hysteria.

...Hate to be an albino in Africa...

The fact that you can trace your ancestry that far back is very cool.
Thanks, I also found that I have several ancestors who arrived on the Mayflower, in 1620. I did a lot of research, starting around 15 years ago.

Not even a little. I think that people convince themselves that stuff like that exists, and then the symptoms/side effect follow. The mind is a powerful thing. We view reality through the filter of our mind, and it seems likely that our beliefs can influence what we see, hear, and feel.

I don't believe in back magic.

Having said this, a couple of weeks before the onset of my T, I had literally been cursed by a gypsy. LOL I was traveling in Spain, and a gypsy lady there was aggressively harassing pedestrians, trying to get them to give her money. I don't remember what I said to her to get her to leave me alone, but she took offense to it. She switched to her language (she was talking in broken English and Spanish before that) and obviously placed a curse on me. I laughed in her face.

I completely forgot about it. A couple of weeks ago, I remembered that episode and realized that I got my acoustic trauma literally less than a month after it. It is coincidences like that that must have given rise to all of the superstitions...

Black magic? No. That thought process is archaic and has no place in the modern world. It is completely absurd and ridiculous and I absolutely have no idea how anyone could believe in it.

I think most people will agree with me on that. But most people will not agree with me that I think religion is just as much of a fantasy.

It just shows what "character assassination" caused by suspicion and gossip can do. One of them, Bridget Bishop, inherited a tavern from her deceased husband. It was said that she was attractive, dressed in a way that was colorful and not conservative and appropriate for that time. Additionally, she was supposedly liked by the men. Which, if true, would have made her a "gossip target" by some of the women.

Come to think of it, being that she was attractive, owned and operated the local tavern, I probably would have liked her myself....:D

*** Just as I finished typing the previous line, the lights flickered then the electrical power went out causing the lights to go out and my computer to shut down for three minutes! ***

No, Henry ford is the reason for noise and traffic, not her.

What I believe is that energies that we can not understand surround us and act in different ways. something like star wars but without lightsabers. in some way the negative energy can affect us but that also depends on our way of receiving the energies around us. This way of thinking is not necessarily related to religious aspects
