hi,
hit by the first snow storm here in canada, isnt it autumn still ? i love all seasons up here but wow this could be another long winter like last winter, luckily i enjoy snowshoeing

I live in the Southern US... If it gets below 40 F it's too cold for me.... Few times I've been up north during the winter, I was miserable.

Yes, I like to see snow briefly, but couldn't deal with it all winter.

for me i have layered specialty clothing for winter and snowshoeing in the wilderness, the scenery is beautiful and the air is the cleanest and healthiest to breathe , and no bugs, for those who do not dress appropriately and just dont like winter stay indoors in a miserable state of mind but for us well seasoned souls, well all i can say is i would not live anywhere else where there is not four seasons ! any one care for a popsicle....lol

I love snow. I always wish that here in Helsinki we would a) not get winter at all, or b) get a REAL winter with lots of snow. Unfortunatelly it seems to be in between now... dark, wet and miserable :)

hi sound wave, then you must come to the snowbelt region i live on which is georgian bay ontario canada, last winter was on average four to five feet of white fluffy flakes, and cold temps to add to that, skiers, snowshoers snowmobilers and even ice fishermen ( once they cleared the snow with their snow moving machines ) were loving it,these kind of winters bring tourists around at holiday time just to see the beautiful scenery, lots of deer, rabbits, fox, chickadees and partridge roam the wilderness behind my backyard ! and the clear nights are jet black transparency with twinkling stars,i feel like a kid again out in the winter wonderland, now wheres santa ! lol

Same here where I live, 100 km west from Stockholm, Sweden.

Yeah @astronomer that sounds awesome! I lived my childhood in the arctic circle in a town called Rovaniemi, where Santa Claus really lives, what ever the Swedes say. ;) We always had a lot of snow there. We had a LOT of snow here in Helsinki a couple of years ago. That was great, even though the city was in trouble with all that snow. I love to ride my 29" full suspension mountain bike during winter with a VERY powerful led light. It's like magic when you ride it through paths in the middle of the pitch black forest. :)

Not for me snow ,give that a big miss ,but my years tell me that ,not as sprightly as once was .
Now my Cocker Spaniels loved it ,couldn't get them in doors once out in it .
Live by the sea ,so luckily the salty sea air ,doesn't keep it around to long thankfully .
Husband use to go on exercise with Noweigan forces ,Jan to March every year ,now they get snow got the pics .
Enjoy all you snow lovers when you get the chance .,would mind a trip on a Skidoo ,that appeals to me .Looks fun ,I'd go for that .

This big has been popping up on my FB feed lately... :)

Windiest place on Earth, right?

If it goes below 78 degrees I'm cold! lol

I like to ski and snowshoe. I live in the mountains in the north. So, those are just normal outdoor Winter activities for those of us that live here.
Nice picture! How can I add a picture here??? I'd appreciate your help.

When you're replying to a thread, click on the "upload a file" button in the lower right corner. Then select the picture from your computer. After I select the photo, I then click on the "open" button. However, your system might be a little different.

Good Luck!

Thanx Jim! How silly me. I was clicking on the little icon on the top that says image and didn't noticed the "upload file button" on the bottom. Thanx a bunch!

@Sound Wave

I don't know about you, but I'm kind of fed up with people complaining over winter every year. I mean, I don't ski or take advantage of the snow very much, but it sure is nice with four different seasons and winter is beautiful when we get them for real. :)

(And no, I didn't consider your picture negative. Just funny.)

As a boy, I loved the winter sled rides down the hills of PA. It was great fun. As I grew older, the winters decreased in value. All winters are the same. Initially, the snow looks beautiful, but as the weeks progress, the top of the snow will get icy hard, the sidewalks, if there are sidewalks, get icy slick, and temperatures plummet to below minus 20 degrees F. Also, the winters never seemed to leave. Up to to six months was perpetually set aside each year to bring misery.

I'm happier to be living in Florida where the summers are unbearably hot and humid, and wish there was a happy medium somewhere in the states. Friends I became acquainted with recently just moved down here from North Carolina, being thoroughly fed up with the hassles of winter existence, which is sad, really, since N.C. is touted as one of the best places to retire in many online ads I've read.

Just how I like it Kopesy ,short and sweet ,but I like grey sky's .Snow for you young ones ,if your young that is .?
Over the years UK don't get it ,not like in the 50 and 60 's all changed now .Highlands of Scotland ,get the worst, stayed snowed in for weeks when we were stationed up there .
