Cause of Tinnitus
Uncertain, now very somatic, started with noise?
When my hissing in my left ear is quieter, I often hear small zaps for hours (and days), approx. 4-8x/second, partly like a pulse-synchronous ratchet, partly additional "impacts".
They're not very loud, but quite annoying.

Can I hear cell discharges now, or is that a nonsense?
Is that what some people describe as cicada noise?

Who hears that constant tinkling, too?

Yes, I do call them crickets they just turn on stay for awhile, I like to tell them the season is over, but unfortunately the sound comes and goes as it pleases. I actually try to diss it as much as possible and you can try to.

I get the electrical zaps amongst all kinds of noises and sensations.

Have this as well about every second or so. Without sound isolating ear muffs it sounds like crickets. With ear muffs it sounds like a bug zapper. When I hear it most the other tone I have is non-intrusive. It's ever so faint at wake up but becomes more obvious throughout the day.

Obviously not an interesiting "phenomenon".
Nobody can say something about zaps, about typewriter-tinnitus, about morse-code-tinnitus and so on.
I am convinced that without an exact description of the symptoms we will not make any progress in tinnitus...

Hey do you still get them?

I get this too. Some days it's in the background and other days it dominates other tinnitus sounds in my ears. I describe is as an electrical sound or a live wire. Multiple high pitched bursts firing away uncontrollably.

This is how mine is whenever there is external noise present

It gets really bad when I use my work phone but weirdly doesn't happen when I use my cell

When my T spikes it sounds like a huge field of Cicadas so I think this zapping sensation is kind of like the "mild" version of that
