Does anyone with tinnitus and hyperacusis experience ear pain when near vibrations?

It doesn't have to be massive vibrations but can also be small ones.

Since my last acoustic trauma which is now my 5th or 6th since the onset of my tinnitus... Not sure anymore... I'm now really sensitive to vibrations too... For example my foot bath massage that vibrates hurts my ears, or my electric toothbrush etc.

So I can't use these devices that vibrate anymore...

I have this too. Idk how severe your H is, mine is quite bad, but the sensitivity to vibration means no driving even with ear protection, leaving me housebound.

Yeah, sounds that produce a vibration that you can clearly feel are the worst, like slamming doors, Harley bikes and similar sounds..

@Aries I also experience ear pain from vibrations. For example when some truck, bus or car is on the street I can feel the vibrations through the walls which are quite harsh for my ears or when my neighbor has turned his music volume levels very loud.

I am also sensitive to vibration, like trucks, helicopters, buses etc.
But your toothbrush could be sonic one, so maybe it is from that?

You have Severe Hyperacusis. Mine is moderate now and it has been for a year. It might get better :)

@dpdx You have had severe hyperacusis for 1 year and now it's moderate? Yes mine became moderate for 3 weeks after some setback and I'm just at the beginning... In 1 week it will be 3 months with hyperacusis in total.

I had Severe Hyperacusis from January 16 - December 28, 2018. It has gotten better but it still spikes to severe. It is hard to explain, like right now its fine, but last night I could not listen to people's voices.

Please be careful, we are prone for more hearing damage.

I know it's been an excruciating journey for you, so I'm really happy to hear that things are at least improving somewhat for you.

Yeah, I been also getting more 6/10 tinnitus days again - 3 days per week. I mean its still bad but its much better than last year where it was beyond belief bad.

@dpdx That's good to hear. I'm happy for your progress and I hope your improve further.

Nope I didn't, in my country we don't have these kinds of tests. I would like to test my hidden hearing loss and hearing on higher frequencies. I tested this some week ago on multiple sites with my earphones and I can listen up to 16 000 Hz but who knows if those are accurate. It isn't some professional testing, I found it on internet and put the earphones on maximum just to test it in couple of seconds.

One of those was:

My hyperacusis is progressing to worse btw. I think that I'm in worse situation even than my first few weeks (which was by far the worst period before this).

I have burning pain in my ears even if I'm in silence for more then 2 days.

I also have some sort of weird reaction after some unexpected sound which isn't loud at all but still make me wanna jump off the seat. Like my body is stressed out as soon as some sound occurs, like it's scaring me, I don't know... It's very difficult for me to explain since it's weird and my English is limited. Worst period ever in my life :(

I experience wild tinnitus spikes from low pitch vibrating sounds, but no pain.
40 dB fridge? Instant spike
Car ride with double protection? Spike and gets worse the longer I drive.

Last week I was at a party and it was really loud (no music) Everyone was laughing and having fun. Clanging dishes, glasses, etc.
No spike at all. Alcohol lowered tinnitus to a low level and I couldn't hear it outside.

Called a taxi. Used my earplugs and earmuffs.
After 5 minutes of driving tinnitus changed from a mild gentle hiss in left ear to moderate and very aggressive. It kept on increasing.
After ~25 minutes of driving tinnitus was blasting 5 different sounds. Exteremely loud and maskable only by a shower.

I don't know how this is possible...
I'm wondering if spike from MRI was due to sensitivity to low pitch noises.

5-6, how did you manage that?
Well it has been quite a rollercoaster. I am an emotional wreck for a hole month or 2 and then start habituation after every trauma. Mine get permanent worse my ears. I'm just really clumsy and not good at taking care of myself. So my hyperacusis has been getting worse and worse and tinnitus also. Emotionally I'm sad but try make the best out of my life atm its the only thing that keeps me going.

It's so weird I didn't have this with vibrations before. My ears are just getting worse, really need to take care now. I can't imagine how much worse it can get :/
Luckily I can still sit in the car but I experience now that sitting in the train and subway spike my tinnitus and gives me earpain. So noisy :(

Hey @Arseny

I found your post as I am also really struggling with driving and spikes. Did you find this settled? I noticed you don't come on the forum much anymore
