Cause of Tinnitus
loud concert
I have T on my right side only. Last thing I need is to make it worse or get T on the left side. It sounds like it would help with the headaches but don't want to take a chance. Anyone have an experience with this drug? Thank you

I have taken it and a low dose like 10-20mg can help sleep and headaches and nerve pain.

Amitryptaline and its cousin nortryptaline both can reduce tinnitus for some people with sever tinnitus and head tinnitus.

I'm on nortryptaline now and helps me sleep ,takes away pain and headaches and has stopped my head tinnitus and taken away the low drone tinnitus but still have sever high pitch tinnitus but lowerd down a notch so cope with it better.
The 10mg Amitryptaline might give you a dry mouth and feel a little sleepy first two days but nothing nasty as it's a low dose.
I was on 100mg years ago .
Depression dose is 75mg for therapeutic dose so you can see 10mg is a tiny amount.
You might need up it to 20mg after a few days have passed but that's between you and your doctor.
I think it will help you and can help you feel calmer also...lots of love glynis

Amitriptyline - It was 20mg/night for me prescribed. Perhaps it's a classic treatment for Tinnitus. I think its been around awhile. It seemed to move me forward in life. Sleeping was my issue. I'm not sure it was the best pick for that. When I switched meds I had a bad night of withdrawal symptoms.

I think the benefits we receive from antidepressants is the relief of anxiety and that gives us the perception that it's not as intrusive. I've done lots of Xanax and Klonopin, can't stand the crash when stopping and they must be stopped, they're never meant for long term. I've lately begun Lexapro and find my anxiety and the depression caused by it to be relieved somewhat, it's still early on but I remain hopeful for habituation. While not a great solution and I resisted it for a long time but I think it's the only choice when desperation takes hold. Tinnitus is still there but the Lexapro promotes a pretty good "who cares" attitude in me.

Got some reason I cannot reply to you in my messages so I thought I'd reply here, yes
nortriptyline and clonzapan both helped reduce my tinnitus and help me go to sleep :)
