'Driven Mad by Tinnitus' — Plumber Commits Suicide After Killing Ex-Girlfriend and Attacking Her Son

Not all reasons are excuses. I'm sure the guy had mental issues, all murderers do. But I don't doubt for one second that the T is the straw that broke the camel's back.

It is sad to know many severe T sufferers tend to have suicidal thoughts.
But, some T suffers are mentally very tough.
I know a person who had T since 1978 (40 years) by a car/bicycle accident.
His T is getting worse through years but he is still very positive to face it.
This TT forums definitely can provide positive comfort to him.

At least you can rest from torture when you have moments of silence, others can not do it for a second. His torture is of the CIA because these would give him moments of rest, while ours is the one that would inflict a totally insane piscopath.

I have endured 4 years of severe tinnitus at a level that most people will never experience and eventually habituated. My habituation is fraught with difficulty at times, as I have to rely on clonazepam to calm my tinnitus down, as nothing else will work. Although having a brief respite of the incessant noise is much appreciated, it is by no means an ideal way of living my life. There are a restrictions and compromises this condition puts on me, which I choose not to mention as certain aspects of my life I like to keep private. I could moan and groan all day and be a negative thinking person but that would get me nowhere and probably make me feel a lot worse. I prefer to be positive thinking and look what I'm able to do with tinnitus and not what I can't.

Not everyone could have a mindset or same tolerance level. My T is blasting loud with Severe H. I cant even talk without causing discomfort to my right ear. How I am supposed to have a positive mindset with that? or be positive about the future? I dont believe in habituation with Moderate, Severe, and Extreme tinnitus. I had Severe T since January and I am still suffering. When I had Mild T I was able to habituate in 2 months or so. With this no way, it changes tones and sometimes it appears in my right ear (I have T only in one ear). To habituate you need to have constant tone/volume. I have constant volume but my tones change now and I sometimes have T in my right (healthy) ear. I think we need to push for a cure or some type of T reduction.

I believe you can habituate @dpdx but you have said that you will not take any medication in the form of antidepressant, which I believe would help with your emotional well being that makes you look at tinnitus and life so negatively. I have discussed this with you many times before and you are adamant that you're not going to try medication. I hope one day you change your mind on this.

All the best

This is just making me mad at people that are working for a cure and not sharing their results more frequently.

I agree.
Cancer was not a sure cure before 1971 until president Nixon with "National Cancer Act" funded 300 million dollars and invited top medical scientists to invent advanced chemo treatments.
We need someone like president of USA or prime minister of Germany who have power to initiate a treatment of tinnitus cure.

What do you mean by sure cure? There are treatment options for some forms of cancer, but no guaranteed cure.

Well then we need to beam Captain Kirk over there and let him be our advocate.

@dpdx,
I have sever bilateral tinnitus for many years and never get a break.
I don't know what it's like no more to hear silence and have many more years to live and I do want to live and enjoy every moment I can as I do.
Tinnitus can play mind games with you but eventually you become stronger and the emotional reaction will change .
I hear mine over everything but just couldn't give a dam no more what my ears get up to as long as im not in pain and can hear.
love glynis
You're awesome

My tinnitus is variable from: complete silence, mild, moderate, severe and can reach extreme severe levels. When necessary, I take clonazepam to reduce the tinnitus from severe or extreme severe levels.

@Michael Leigh

Hello Michael

You are always reaching out to help others. I am wondering how is it for you.

Are there certain triggers that change the severity levels for you?
Do you have a level that is most dominant?
Do you have frequent fluctuations?
Does it always go back to baseline?

HI @LindaS

I try to reach out to people and if possible help them and that is my reason for visiting this forum. Unfortunately, some members have tried to derail this for reasons known only to them and I have had to deal with this accordingly.
Are there certain triggers that change the severity levels for you?
Stress can make my tinnitus worse but usually find a way of dealing with stressful situations, so it doesn't impact on the tinnitus for too long. My posts: Tinnitus and the negative mindset and Acquiring a positive mindset some people might find helpful.
Do you have a level that is most dominant?
Not really. My tinnitus still fluctuates and I have habituated to all the levels and only have a problem when it is very severe and this lasts for more than 2 or 3 days, then I have to take clonazepam which usually calms it down to complete silence or at a more manageable level. I take clonazepam less now as my tinnitus has gradually improved over the years after my 2nd noise trauma in 2008 but it has been a slow process.
Do you have frequent fluctuations?
Yes as mentioned above my tinnitus fluctuates a lot but I'm quite used to it now.
Does it always go back to baseline?
The baseline levels for my tinnitus is either complete silence, mild or moderate and I've completely habituated to these. Even when the tinnitus is intrusive it doesn't usually bother me. By intrusive I mean from moderate to severe and I sometimes wear my white noise generators keeping the level below the tinnitus. It only becomes a problem when the tinnitus ramps up to very severe and this continues for more than 2 or 3 days. Sometimes it will calm down on its own, or I take clonazepam usually for one day, which lowers the tinnitus to complete silence over 12hrs or at a level that is more manageable.
