Cause of Tinnitus
? probably hearing loss.
Hi,

I know this subject has been explored before but I'm not sure I can write the fullness I feel in my ear off to tinnitus like my ENT has suggested. I on and off get a feeling of pressure/fullness in just one of my ears along with mild pain. When my ENT looked he said the ear looked perfectly normal but that wasn't on a day when this was bothering me a lot. When I pinch my nostrils, close my mouth and blow, that ear pops and often when I swallow, I feel the eustachian tube on that side open up a bit and I temporarily hear better. I think this has to do with allergies. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have had success with antihistimines or decongestants when you feel like there is fluid in your eustachian tube? Has anything else helped? I also feel like the tinnitus is worse when this is going on. Thanks for your help.

This is me exactly!!

I have been told I have Eustachian tube dysfunction, and the quiet buzzing I get is as a result of that.

How do your ears go in the car? Mine play up even when driving on flat surfaces.

I am used to popping them by swallowing about a million times a day. Sometimes I wonder if I even need to do it, and it has become more of an OCD compulsion.

Every now and then I do get a very, very pressured feeling in either one of my ears that lasts for a few seconds.

Keen to see what others have to say!

Hi Kris,
I hope some others will join in. I've had some success with taking decongestants on my own but this problem keeps coming back. The car doesn't seem to bother me but I wear hearing aids and the car noise is so bad with them anyway. I do remember that the car seemed to make things worse when this all first started up but not in the ear I'm complaining about with the fluid pressure feeling. I hope we get some lasting relief soon. What did your doctor recommend for your ETD?

My T was noise induced and weirdly ever since i get really bad pains in my ears that ive never had before.. And random pressure too... Luckily its been a few weeks but still is annoying

I have been on Nasonex which seems to slowly be helping. I have a bit of post nasal drip which hopefully is a good sign things are improving. I was actually on nasonex a year ago and it didn't do much but have recently started up on it again as my ears were playing up moreso.

I have my ok days and my really crappy days where the fluctuating pressure just drives me mad. Bleh!

That is strange, although it seems that pressure is a common complaint around here. Maybe we are all concentrating so much on ears and noticing something that we never did before? I dunno.

How exactly do you massage this area? I see a chiro and sometimes feel a bit 'clearer' afterwards.

Buy the Clair Davies 'Trigger Point Therapy Workbook-Third Edition' Also, you can look it up on you tube ("trigger point, scm muscle") Just be careful and gentle as you have your cartoid artery in your neck. This is why I also recommend buying the manual, it's worth every penny ($30cdn) and teaches you so much about trigger points and how to treat them YOURSELF, plus more..

also, here is a link for you..http://www.gustrength.com/muscles:sternocleidomastoid-location-action-trigger-points

I have tinnitus in both ears but the pressure and pain in only one. The one that bothers me with that sense of fullness and pressure has very faint tinnitus compared to the other. This ear was hurting me when I was sick in January and February and it hurt before the tinnitus started. I just have to believe something is not right in there. I may give the nasal spray I try. I have Flonase.

I get that feeling too. actually have it right now,LOL! the T. does seem to spike up more,or at least seem more noticeable when my ears are fuller. don't know if it's louder because of the pressure feeling/pain, or if the pressure /pain just make me notice my ears, and therefore my T. ?
