Hi all,

On Saturday night, I played this a bit loud for a few minutes on iPhone speaker:

The next morning, my right ear felt blocked/stuffy. When I chewed on food, the noise vibrated into my right ear. I slightly heard my heartbeat in that ear at night. When I talked, my voice seemed a little muffled in the right ear but I heard other sounds fine.

Same thing continues today, no change.

Will this blocked/stuffiness go away? I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow.

Would taking some anti-inflammatory help here?

Thanks,
Richard

How loud was it? And for what period of time?

Listening to it over 75 dB for more than a few hours can damage.

A few minutes on your phone seems unlikely to damage but it's depending on the dB output.

@LukeYoung

It was 50% volume on my iPhone X speaker.

iPhone dB level is max 100-115, but at 50% it's not insanely loud.

I was listening to it for about 10 minutes.

Thanks,
Richard

You also need to take into account the distance from the phone. The drop off from phone speakers would be pretty big.

I don't think it should have caused damage though.

I had my ears checked. Looks like ear wax got on the ear drum. Back to normal after the doctor cleaned out the ear wax.

Looks like it was just a coincidence :)
Can I ask what method of wax removal your doctor used? :) I think I have the same problem after using earplugs for a few hours deeply inserted so it would be nice to hear about your positive experience.
