Ear wax removal?
T for past 8 years and coping. Was in the middle of a spike for 2 weeks for what felt liked sinus infection. Went to ENT on Monday and she suctioned my ears out which I have had done before. A lot of wax came out. Now screeching T level and hypersensitive hearing that I can not function. Don't know how I can go on like this. Hoping that it is just a spike and my ears have to adjust. But already looking bleake and lost interest my daily activities. I just wish it would return to baseline where I knew it there and sucked but I could over hear on good days.

Scott I had my ears suctioned out my mt ENT and it was loud and actually was painfull when the instrument hit my ear drum. My T was higher pitched and more loud for three days but finally settled down to base line. Hang in there buddy !!!!!!

Hi Scott,
Your ears should settle down soon for you.
The wax removal will make your ears more sensitive but will soon settle.
I recommend using olive oil drops 7-10 days prior to wax removal as looses the wax up to come out at ease and helps soften crusted wax around the ear drum.
Give it time and I'm sure you will be fine....lots of love glynis

Hi Scott, I too had wax suctioned out my ears recently and found the noise to be higher pitched and ears were much more sensitive to noise. I'd say they're slowly getting better, think they just need to re-adjust! Try not to let the anxiety take over xx

If you can get T & H from a kiss on the ear (the so-called "kiss of deaf", I have a family member who got it), then I shudder to imagine what shoving a vacuum in there could do. Why is this even still a practice of supposed "specialists"?

That said I had it done in the early days too, but it did nothing to me either way, neither curative nor damaging.

I've had the ear syringed and the wax scooped out via a currette but that is how I got this condition. All I know right now I am scared, depressed, and nauseous

I'm writing this a 3 am goes I woke up sweating. Started crying tonight cause I dint know how I'm gong to deal with this. My ears feels like there is now ringing in both where before I only had the one. Time is much higher. Feels that auditory system is in shock. I don't want to take meds. Before Monday I was ok but I had to see ent cause my right side was blocked. Should have never let anyone touch my ears. But these are trained professionals. Where do I go from here.

Hi Scott,

I think you're correct, your hearing is in shock. Given time, it will more than likely settle down. I'm not teaching you to suck eggs, because you're had tinnitus for a lot longer than I have, but you just have to persevere for a few days and sometimes you just need somebody to tell you this. Hopefully it will only be 3 days as a previous poster has said, but don't be too alarmed if it is still louder after a week or so - your brain will adapt.

I am at work now and I cant even function. Just had something to eat and I want to throw it up. Sleep was non existent, everyone keeps saying give it time but I cannot adjust. I dont want to go back to ENT cause they will just say deal.......HELP............FULL CRISIS MODE

Thought I was doing better but I'm not. This is never going to reside. The ringing in my head has intensified this afternoon to the point of unbearableness. Everyone keeps saying give it a chance but this seems like a new ringing in my ear or center of my head.
Please anyone just let me know if this is a flare up after micro suction or am totally f'd. I love my wife and daughter but how can I be there for them. Golf was my other passion but that does not interest me any more. It's been 3 days since my cleansing and it hell this afternoon. Can anyone help?

Hi Scott,
Think you need a relaxant and have a couple of really chilled out days to relax you and give your brain a rest and calming weekend.
I totally understand what your going through as tinnitus can be real mental torture .
Try not get stressed as it will feed the tinnitus .
You will get through this but it takes time for tinnitus to settle.
You have had tinnitus many years and you will get back to your base sound but seems like your ear cleaning may have dried your ears out to much and inflammation set in.
Try olive oil drops and total rest over the weekend.
Always happy talk to you on the phone....lots of love glynis

So after a week I keep on kicking myself in the ass for letting and ENT suction my ears. I have paid more attention to the louder T in my ear and what I think is weird is that there is a high pitch ring that goes in and out over my original T i believe. This is the part that is driving me absolutely insane. Was this damage due to the suctioning. Will it reside? I have lost 9 lbs since Tuesday after I discovered all of these new problems. Can someone please say that this new sound will go away

Hi Scott,
Try to remain positive even in your down time as time is a great healer and hope this new sound will settle for you.
I know how hard it is and how it can make you feel.
Most ear suction goes without problems and maybe short spikes for a few days and anxiety will add to it.
If it does not settle after another week I would see your doctor or the person who did your treatment.
Hang in their .....lots of love glynis

Scott have you tried a chiropractor? I've heard other people suggest this and it's something i am considering.
I feel just as desperate as you, my T is different to yours but today I just had to have a little cry as mine is getting worse week by week, mine is pressure and loud humming, with a vibrating hum that kicks off in my left ear when it's quiet, also have heavy head and headache, painful throat, no sleep either.. Drs not interested in me.. Hang in there as you're not alone.

i have seen chiropractors in the past with no luck. I was in the middle of a spike and was introduced to suctioning which messed me up. Got this damn high pitch ring

Hi @Scott T ,

Hang in there, I feel your pain. I'm in a similar situation to you.... I was coping with T since Jan this year and had wax suctioned from my ears which made it a louder pitch and freaked me out. I regretted doing it and became anxious and started to think that the audiologist had done it intentially, redicilous I know!!

It could be that we've effectively had a plug removed from our ears and the noise will appear louder and may take a while to settle again or that our anxiety has shot up and intensified the pitch. It's difficult to understand who to trust and what the right thing to do is? Surely these folk are professional and know the right thing to do?

I hope you reach a better place soon xx

yea Vicki, I had waxed removed on a couple of other occasions via suction and when I left I felt fine,, even the hearing test afterward I felt like I came in then when I woke up on Tuesday morning I was in dire straights like I am now. Nothing has provided me with relief. Trying to stay strong for my family but it is a struggle

Hi Scott,
How are you since then? Do you feel better or not?
I'm in a similar situation. I got T since 2012 and i was not very happy, but not fully depressed and i could almost handle it and suddenly, i got a spike since last august and feel very depressed too, as you are. In my case, i'm not sure of the cause, first some guy used a whistle near my ears, then i took prednisolone because i felt bad about the noise i had. I also remember (afterwards while thinking of the events) that under the shower i happend to unplug my ears with my fingers (from inside the ear hole to the outside with litle finger), like a suction effect. Do you think it could be dangerous? It's strange because i think my whole life without experiency any tinnitus.
