I've been having tinnitus for 7 weeks now -- only in one ear -- as a result of a blow to the ear.

My ENT said my eardrum has burst and would take months to heal. I have hearing loss in that ear. I also have hyperacusis plus a little bit of eye floaters on the side of the affected ear.

Is there a possibility that my tinnitus would go away if the eardrum heals successfully?

Yes. Most definitely.

Avoid noise as much as possible over the next couple of months.

Wear ear defenders or earplugs when you go out.

Take some of these supplements:

NAC (1200mg), Magnesium (266mg), Zinc (10mg), Vitamin E (1200iu) and also Turmeric (1500mg).

You're gonna be fine.

Thank you very much. I forgot to mention there's also a feeling of fullness in the ear.

I've had hope since I found this forum. My first 2 weeks with tinnitus were very rough, at a point was having suicidal thoughts but I told myself there's more to life and I also lost my job because I couldn't keep up wasn't able to step my foot outside the house, I work in a quiet noisy environment which made me depressed even more because I loved that job but then I had to move on. What scares me was that I'm still young and had much hope for a brighter future ahead. I got my first engineering degree in 2018.

Yeah, the fullness thing is quite common with tinnitus.

As you say, you're young and healthy (thus capable of quick healing), no reason to write off your future or your job just yet.

Just focus on your recovery for now; take it one day at a time.

Don't go to noisy places for a while though, if you want to get better (absolute worst thing you could do).

I suspect you'll be alright.

That's some words of encouragement from you and I do appreciate that. I had to forcefully adjust my lifestyle when I got tinnitus. The first few weeks were rough though but I'm coping, I used to be a very social and outdoorsy person but things have changed, now I'm always indoors apart from the 1 hour walk I take each evening. I've stopped listening to anything at high volume because I tend to realise the tinnitus gets louder in a noisy environment. It's quite faint though when I'm outside or wake up in the morning but gets louder when I yawn or stretch.
