Noise Trauma ~ Wedding Reception
Hey guys, I'm currently living with the parents, and my dad keeps pressuring me to mow the lawn. To be fair, he does have two properties now, both small houses, and would like me to take care of mowing the mountain house, after he and my mom move into the other house, and I stay behind.

What are some of the most comfortable earmuffs you've experienced, that also have 33 dB or higher protection?

With good ears, I'd usually mow with just plugs, but I don't wanna risk it, and am planning out my double protection.

With my Vitamix, I've been wearing plugs and a pair of old 22 dB muffs, which seems to be okay, but for mowing, I want a more comfortable pair with more protection.

Suggestions?

Consider paying someone to do it instead of you. You don't want to risk a permanent spike that is completely preventable...

@JurgenG

I have all sorts of muffs including those in the link - which are nowhere near the advertised DB reduction.

Those are cheap muffs that are less effective than the peltor x5a and especially quite tight around the head and uncomfortable.

These muffs aren't NRR rated

Save your money and get the x5a

Thanks for your answer! I currently already have the x5(a?), so I guess there is nothing better?

Which is preferable... wearing earmuffs or foam ear plugs for events such as movies? I have the Peltor 3m 27 dbByellowish earmuffs. Lately ear plugs have been causing irritation but I think earmuffs may hurt the jaw? Also, it takes longer to wear foam ear plugs.

For a movie, in general earplugs are better. If your T is not too reactive, than musician earplugs should be adequate, like Eargasms, or if more sensitive a foam model. However, if your ears are irritated, the ear muffs are a good alternate. If the ear muffs are fitting ok, and appropriately sized, should not hurt your jaw unless it has an issue like TMJ that may be contributing to the T.
