Thanks for replying.. I have my t since April 14 th/2014. My T ears hurt when there is average noise.. for loud noise I use ear plugs. This morning I called someone in another country and they are going deaf and I had to speak loud and T hurt after that..not sure if this normal.i guess I am getting what call H. hope it goes away. all the best to you!

If you have T, pretty much the only thing Doctors do is shrug their shoulders and prescribe Elavil (Amitrityline). It didn't help my T out, but it did help with TTTS (tensor tympani syndrome) which among other things cause discomfort in the general ear area, tightness, full-ear feeling, so don't know if that is your case (look it up either way). When I take Elavil it helps relieve those symptoms. Of course trying to reduce your stress is ALWAYS helpful when combating T/H-related issues, so beyond anti-depressants you'll have to actively engage any bouts of depression that are corollary to T/H.

Hello, thank you for your information, Do you have to wear earplug, everytime you go out, iwent for a walk, the cars , the truck the motocycle, they all hurt my ears.is this normal ?thanks for listening TAke care!

I haven't gotten the ear pieces yet, (WSG) and no I don't wear earplugs, the idea being that when those symptoms first manifest they can quickly, almost subliminally turn into misophonia, meaning that your brain perceives most sounds as a threat and in turn creates more pain in order to get you to go away from the sound. So in order to "re-habituate" yourself to sounds you can't eliminate sound entirely. Anything too loud that causes the head-jolting, knee jerk reaction of pain should be avoided of course, (if that's cars than avoid them for now) so try some medication/reducing stress, try making sure you're sleeping properly, visit a doctor, make sure you don't have your middle ear clogged or allergies, and then maybe you should seek out a doctor who specializes in TRT. I think all in all it's going to be about $4,000 (including hearing tests, WSG, and counselling) My doctor said he wanted to focus on the H first, and then isolate the T.

Hello Thank you for the information, I live in a small town in Toronto Canada, not much doctors here, but I will try with my regular doc. maybe he can refer me, the doc. here are not much help, my ent could not wait to get me out of his office What is (WSG) ?when I go where there is loud noise , I wear Walmart ear plugs, which helps a bit. If I go to the mall and for a walk , I do not wear earplugs, this is when I find the cars, the trucks, and motocycle bothers me, I do not know if I am being too sensitive, I started having Dizzyness before my T started, and went to ent, he send me for hearing test and audio and a few days after my T started, he said there is nothing he can do, I go to see him for answers, I think he fed up with me and wait to get me out of his office..I still have a lot of dizziness all day long ..I take dizzy pills which helps me somewhat..thanks for listening Take care

Your best bet would be to search out hearing specialists in Toronto. (do some google searches) Whatever method of treatment they prescribe it won't involve you travelling there often and as I've heard Dr. Nagler state (one of the resident doctors here on the site) after consultations/testing/fitting of WSG's (wearable sound generators, in other words small ear pieces that send sound to your ear to help you habituate to sounds beyond your current tolerance) counselling can be done via skype or telephone. It seems apparent your middle ear/tensor tympani is acting up (which in turn can cause myriad symptoms) which they say stress can only worsen so that's why anti-depressants can be prescribed-that's a start. Then the goal is to help you re-habituate to louder sounds which can further promote beneficial changes. As far as it being able to 100% cure one of all of those symptoms of pain, tightness, nausea, clicking, fluttering I'm not sure, perhaps for some yes, perhaps for others it takes longer for those results to occur, and maybe for others only partially, but from what I've been able to glean from many sources is that improvement does occur. (Often times just waiting and being patient)
