F***king Motorbikes

@hoper knowing you don't wear ear plugs, have you noticed your t getting worse with loud sound exposures?

in the first few weeks/months yes, but i got used to it and my t doesen't react to loud noises.
i was like: let's test volume 4 in my car, will my tinnitus be worse or not? no it was not louder
so let's try volume 5, after 6 and so on
today i listen to loud music in my car everytime i drive with it.
i think it's some sort of training.

@hoper - it's okay. Only other language I know is Spanish and I'm terrible at it. The loudness that you increased over time, how loud can you go now and still be comfortable with the sound?

i can go very loud. i am thinking about making a video in my car while listening to loud music. the only thing i don't want to dare is going in the disco.

i thought swedish girls are nice and adorable...:dunno:

well, i am a motorcyclist by myself and i still like the sound of fast bikes and beautiful cars, even with tinnitus.
in the first few weeks when i had my tinnitus i was scared of loud bikes too, even of my own bike when i startet it and ride with it. my opinion is, the problem here is not the sound of the engine. the problem is the fear of it and the negative thoughts of ,,that bike was too loud, i am scared that my tinnitus could be louder''. fear, anxienty, negative thoughts are the problem. in the first few weeks/months i learned to ignore that fear. today, i still love riding my bike and i still like to listen to good engine sounds. my bike isn't that loud and i am not one of those bikers who rave up their engine every red-light or when i start it.

this is me :)

Hahaha, Swedish women are fairly nice. However, I didn't mean that everyone that motorbikes are idiots, but in the in the heat of my rant you know. Of course there are sensible motorbiking people too, but the ones that I have met in traffic so far have been major assholes. Like a group of younger men that travels in a group of four or five people and they just try to show of to each other. Those guys can go and **** themselves :D

As someone with significant tinnitus who also rides a motorcycle -- depending on the bike you often must rev at least a little bit while idle or at redlights, because you'll stall out if you don't, especially if the engine hasn't been running for very long. Motorcycle engines and clutches are quite different from car engines.

That is quite understandable, however you can tell when someone is just reving up just because they are showing off or if they are doing it because they are about to get a green light. That is completely different, same thing with cars. Some people are just pushing the gas to show of their engine, and that can be quite loud too. I hate those people as well. Like really, respect other people's ears please. Or people going off with loud music in public spaces.

So how do you approach really loud situations, such as gigs or mowing the lawn?
I could do all the positive thinking in the world and my ears would still be screwed :)

Quite fortunately, I don't have a lawn so there is nothing to mow!
I have made peace with the fact that I won't be clubbing ever again or going to a gig. Maybe a gig if it's like more pop music (like Ed Sheeran, love that guy) who have more soft music. And it's a big venue where the sound have more space to travel, I'll might be standing furthest in the back with ear plugs and muffs with at least 30 db protection.
I haven't gotten over my fear of loud noises and the thought of being exposed rather gives me the chills. Then again, I never been a concert/gig person and I haven't been a clubbing girl since I was 19-22 so there is not a big difference for me in that sense. I rather stay home and take it easy even before T, however I got a reason to say no without having to find an excuse in case anybody try to get me to come with them :)

Not since the bike no, it was just a second maybe. I was just not prepared mentally of the loud sound it made since I didn't see it. It pissed me off more than doing any damage. I have had a spike since I went to the hair dresser and forgot my earplugs. She blow dried my hair for 10 min and it really gave me some anxiety. I think the spike has gone down but still a little louder than usual.

see? trust me, a bike will not increase loudness of your tinnitus. your anxienty is the bigger problem here. the next time when you hear a bike just relax and don't make yourself scared. then listen to your tinnitus if it's louder or not. if not, you know you don't need to be scared of any bike. same with the hair dresser. do you want to be scared everytime the hair dresser dry your gorgeous swedish hair?? i don't think so.

The whole world is full of loud sounds unfortunately if you really start paying attention to it. :( Always gotta keep your eyes open, and be ready to get your ears closed..

You should wear ear plugs when cutting your grass and weed eating. I would wear them going to a concert as well.

No positive thinking needed lol! I woulld mow my grass with 10 ft ear plugs hanging out my head if thats all they made LMAO!

If people would leave stock exhausts on the bikes that would be okay. But as you put on a loud exhaust you're basically for your own enjoyment doing damage to and annoying others. What does that say about those people?
That they are so boring and empty inside, that the only way to drive attention from other people is to be loud. If they would not be so loud, no one would ever know that they even exists. I always hated loud motorbikes - now even more.
