Frankenstein illustrations by Bernie Wrightson.
Azura is a snack, what can I say. One of my favourite female characters (second only to Camilla of course. )
Good choice! My favourite Romantic painter - here he is looking into the sublime.Caspar David Friedrich, German Romantic landscape painter.
Kópakonan – The Seal Woman - Visit Faroe IslandsDoes anybody know where this delightful statue is located. It came up randomly on the internet.

Thank you Damocles.
Brilliant read. There is a myth in Ireland that the seals come to change back to human form. They also spend one night roaming the land.Thank you Damocles.

At one time we believed the English were helping us. But as it turned out someone tossed the Blythe into the air killing a million people through starvation or emigration.Them Irish'll believe anything.

Fascinating work, Daniel. I interpret it as a depiction of rape. Very disturbing.
I interpret it as rape as well. Rape of tinnitus. It's always lurking there in the background, when you are moving around you're less bothered by it, but as soon as you stop, BAM, you get raped.Fascinating work, Daniel. I interpret it as a depiction of rape. Very disturbing.
Wow, these demons sure know how to treat the human body like an amusement park. And what can the damned do for the damned...

...but suffer and watch as their own time comes.
"Das Jüngste Gericht, Detail der Hölle" - Fra Angelico (1431)
Unfortunately it was someone we both saw yesterday, asking for help here, that prompted this image in my mind.Wow, these demons sure know how to treat the human body like an amusement park.
I wonder if they have a tinnitus inducing torture chamber in Hell. The painter probably thought it would be too gruesome to depict something like that and rather chose something more ''torture friendly'' like feeding people to demons and cooking them in a nice stew for the Lord of Darkness ;P
Christiaan! I absolutely adore these! Wow!I've always loved Patrick Nagel's pop-art.
Thank you for sharing these. I enjoyed reading about them. This is located in Roundwood, Ireland. A place called Victor's Indian palace. It's all outdoors. An amazing walk of sculptures.
