Cause of Tinnitus
Flu Virus >>Middle Ear Test >>> Ear Infection/Medication
So for the past 4 Months ive been in disbelief that i got Severe Tinnitus from a Tympanometry which many people say is almost impossible.

What it actually was is the Acoustic Reflex Test, what device they used was a 2 in 1 they did both tests at the same time.

This is from the Manual they give to Medical Students about using ART (If ur about to have a hearing test u may wanna give it a read)

Commercially available diagnostic bridges for testing ARTs are capable of producing high intensity stimuli (e.g., 120 dB HL and higher) and there is documentation in the literature that ART testing can cause permanent hearing loss and tinnitus (e.g. Hunter, Ries, Schlauch, Levine, & Ward, 2000). Although some authors have recommended a maximum presentation level of 110 dB SPL (Wilson & Margolis, 1999), there are no standards for safe presentation levels for pure tone stimuli. OSHA (1983) recommends a limit of 115 dBA for brief duration noise, but a pure tone results in a greater amount of energy concentrated over a smaller area of the basilar membrane compared with noise. In addition, some individuals are uniquely sensitive to the effects of loud sound. Therefore, clinicians should exercise caution in the presentation of loud sounds as well as be familiar with the literature in this regard.

I suggest anyone with Tinnitus or any kind forgo this test unless you want to end up in my position. And go from something that was kinda annoying at night to i want jump of a bridge into a pit of lava level.

So yeah my ears a fucked , i guess i was one of those individuals, but at-least i know why and don't have to spend any more money on figuring out why, thats some peace of mind.

Im curious, for those of you that may of had this test, were you given the option or did they just do it.

Exactly.

I would experience T every now and again and thought it was from emf's. Most likely was from 15 years of not handling stress well. Then Sept 2017 I got a root canal done by an endodontist that used ultrasonic instrumentation. The tinnitus never turned off after that. The tinnitus has been mostly manageable until I made the mistake of going to an ENT a week ago. It also didn't help the ENT was at a Naturopathic University. The student who used the otoscope shoved it uncomfortably too far into each ear. Then the ENT told the student to "retrieve the machine". He didn't even tell me what the testing was called. Then he ran the test 3 times in each ear until he got conclusive results. I am now experiencing a substantial tinnitus spike. I'd say it nearly doubled. Sleep has been poor and my anger/frustration is bringing me down. I can't believe I'm in this place. I didn't even go to the ENT for my T. I went because I wanted to rule out a bacterial infection in my eyes, nose or throat from using an emergency eyewash station. I just mentioned my tinnitus during the new patient intake and they ran with the testing. My only hope for healing is in God and with my determination to not let this rule my life. I also find strength in your stories. May peace be with us all!

How loud was the test? A test was done on me too, and I got T in the evening of that day. However, in my case, I don't remember any of the tones (that were part of the test) being loud. So I am still not sure what had caused my T...
