Cause of Tinnitus
Neck/Jaw misalignment
Had a cold for a week then I noticed weird noise coming from my ear when I blew my nose...

Went to the ENT and they said I had a right ear infection. I had the tinnitus since July 1st for 2 days in my head (horrible), then it went completely away for 1 day. Then the next day the tinnitus moved to my ears or maybe just the right ear...

So basically I've had this going on for about 5 days... The doc gave me amoxicillin, a liquid 4 day steroid, Xanax and some post nasal drip stuff, also taking Sudafed off and on for about 2 weeks due to my cold and still being a little stuffy...

I'm hoping once the ear infection goes away so will the ringing... I've been on the amoxicillin for 4 days now... I go see the ENT this Wednesday.....

Also I think I had tinnitus about 10 years ago when my ears were flushed out with water and a big syringe.... Thanks for the help this is my first post

I am sorry you got tinnitus. First thing you do is to make sure you double check your doctor that he does not give you any ototoxic medications. They are a certain class of medications that can do heavy damage to your ears. So look up online and see if any of your medications are. If so, request other ones that are not. You cannot be safe enough at this point. Avoid headphones and loud clubs / concerts at least for a while. Give those ears some rest.

I got my tinnitus from vertigo and an inner ear infection almost 3 decades ago. Hope your ears get better and your infection goes away. Certain meds can also cause tinnitus, take care of yourself and welcome to this great community :)

Even over the ear headphones on low volume?? It seems to me that that block the ringing.... And what about earplugs are they always OK to use??

I am not an expert here at all. I am merely telling you from my experiences, and from what I have read on this board time and time again. Over ear headphones on half volume are probably fine, although I would personally not use them until your tinnitus completely subsides (avoid in ears as the plague). And be VERY careful afterwards with them. All kinds of headphones are bad for us.

Be careful with over use of earplugs because you might get sound hyper sensitivity from that (hyperacusus). Personally when I was at the beginning of tinnitus, I really only used them in bars, airplanes, trains, restaurants and busy streets with loads of cars etc. where I preceived it to be really loud, and where I would get a reaction from my tinnitus to the sound.

You have to see what you think you need. I did not use them EVERYWHERE I went. Again, my personal experiences. For you it might be something completely different. But I do remember my ENT saying I should be careful not to overuse the earplugs.

T went from right ear to left now, is this normal?? Last night I'm pretty sure my right ear estutubian tube cleared and ringing completely went away in my right ear. Now the ringing is 100% in my left ear... Up until this I would say the ringing was 80% in my right ear and 20% in my left...Does this mean the ringing is caused perhaps by my right ear infection and now the infection is in the right?

The fun thing about tinnitus is that it's completely unpredictable - it's just going to do whatever it wants most of the time. Make sure to see a good ENT who actually gives a crap about this. If the infection has 100% cleared, there's a good chance it will go away.

Hahahahah I love Zenyatta. I seen her run on tv from races 6-20... Didn't know who she was and bet $100 on a horse called Model and Zenyatta shallowed her alive... Also didn't have much money when she ran in the 1st breeder's cup classic. I made like 2k that day and ever since I've been up hill atleast money wise. Long Live the Queen.

First 2 times I seen a dr/ent, they said no ear infection... I was basically diagonesed with a right ear infection 6 days ago... Can the infection go from the right ear to the left... No buzzing in right ear and like I said last night the ringing was mainly in my right and I felt my right Eustachian and fluid drain out.. No ear ringing after that, but woke up with the other ear ringing.

Just got back from seeing a different ENT.. He said I don't have an ear infection. I've been to 6 dr. in the last 10 days and 3 said I had infection 3 said I didn't. He told me I have TMJ instead... I was on 3 amoxicillin's for a 10 day period and have took them for 6 days. He said stop taking the amoxicillin's due to know ear infection I guess... He told me to get a hot water bottle and take 4 advil's at night and 2 benadrayl's..... Does this make any sense?

No that doesn't make sense. If you have an infection stopping your antibiotic treatment doesn't make sense.

Been to 5 doctors, 2 said infection 3 said NO infection... 1st 2 said no infection, 3rd and 4th said small infection like 9 days ago and today this guy said no infection.

Why are you seeing different doctors versus following up with one of the original doctors? Is an ENT or general doctor seeing an ear infection?

Nobody want's to help me... I went to an urgent care place 1st (no infection said) and they didn't want to help bc I was seeing ENT next day. Next day came and ALL ringing went away and ENT didn't see or do anything bc ringing was gone. Came home from ENT and did Sudafed and Flonase and ear ringing shot right back up. Went back to urgent care place and they said they seen small infection and started amoxicillian... 3 days later ER and they gave 4 day liquid steroid... Last night I cried out for help bc I was sick of the shit treatment and called 911 and ambulance took me to ER... They did basically nothing, except give me a shitty sleeping pill that had my ringing jumping all over my face like my ears and nose area.

Also still very hard to sleep, but ringing is down to nothing with no noise... If theres a lot of noise then theres a lot of ringing.

Doesn't 4 advil seem excessive???? Also told me to take 2 Benadryl's with them for sleep after I told him Benadryl does nothing for me... Also got some ambien from a friend and they help... Gonna try to take 3 advil's tonight with food and the 2 ambien in maybe 3 hours... If I'm not sleeping then I will use the ambien.

Advil is known to aggravate tinnitus. Three seems a lot to me... As per ambien to help you sleep, you should only take one and do not take it together with Benadryl. Not good to mix so many medications. Always consult your doctor when taking sleeping pills. I hope you feel better soon.

Tylenol won't aggrevate T right??? Also stayed in the sleep apena department overnight in the hospital. After basically being sedated I got 5 hours sleep. Doctor gave me 100 MG trazodone to take 1 a night.. Last night after taking 2 trazidone and 1 ambien I got 5-6 hours sleep I think... I have come to the conclusion that my ear that feels stuffed up (no wax), head pressure, and neck that is messed up is all related... One doctor told me I have TMJ and he may be right bc my jaw isn't opening all the way... Its all related somehow.

Hopefully when me neck is straigned out this we all take care of its self.
