Hi everyone! I've just joined here as I'm looking for some advice I'm hoping someone on here can give me. Long story short I've had my T since May of last year it comes and goes..however my main problem is my chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction. I've tried everything my ENT has thrown at me with no success (he also says I'm too young for him to want to do surgery and it's too risky). I have to fly in a little over a month and am getting nervous. He's assured me that I'll be fine and to just take Afrin before the flight. Just wondering if anyone else on here has flown with the chronic ETD and T? What were your experiences?
I would greatly appreciate any replies thank you so much!

Hi,i had chronic etd, have you tried a neilmed sinus rinse?? I found it veey helpful. also steam inhaltion really can help.i ahvent flown with it but my friends husband did and he took sudafed and otravine a coupel of days leading up to the flight and during the flight x

Hi! Thank you ..I do the neilmed rinse every day..it definitely helps a bit but so far no long term relief. You said you had chronic ETD how did you get rid of it? Just with time?
Thanks for the reply I'll probably end up doing the sudafed before the flight I'm sure I'm worrying over nothing..

Nasal sprays like Afrin should work or Sudafed behind the counter, maybe 1 hour before descending. A EarPopper may work good too. I think there's a thread on flying someplace.

Time, lots of steaming, various nasal sprays, constantly trying to open the et.it did literlly take years snd i still get it everytime i get a cold or something. Xx

I know the pharmacies here in Sweden sell "airplane plugs". It helps with the air pressure, thinking about your eustachian tube. Maybe I am completely off, but maybe it can help so that your ears don't get more pressure on them and maybe avoid or ease the pain. I believe you should be able to find them anywhere, if not they should be sold online. I think the cost is around $15.

Chewing gum ferociously on descent usually works for me.....I have ETD and T and fly a lot. Don't let these miserable complaints clip you wings.
Thank you! That makes me feel a bit better to hear from someone who does it frequently! I'm really nervous about the descent but hopefully with gum and some nose spray It'll be okay

Oh wow. I was thinking of getting a steam mist inhaler system because lately the neilmed hasn't been helping much. Hopefully in time it'll improve! Thanks

I developed tinnitus last year after an ear syringe which subsided after 8 weeks but then I flew and it returned. I took with me on the flight something called an ear popper but didn't use it foolishly
If you can get hold of one of these I think it will help, it releases the pressure and you can pop your ears as often as is necessary on take off and landing.

I'm having the same issues and going on an 8 hour flight in a few weeks. I know this post is old, but how did everything go with the flight?
