Tinnitus Since
5/2013
I got the ringing noise on both ears and/or head on friday, in the morning is gone and it starts back about mid day and gets louder as the day goes by, it gets pretty loud, I am freaking out and don't know what to do...... very depressed....

I saw a specialist yesterday, he said to wait for 7 days that he thought it might go away, I have no reason for it, it just showed up, my hearing is fine other than the beep, and ocational pressure feeling in my ears, he also said my ears where fine.

Did the specialist arrange a hearing test (I assume so by "my hearing is fine")? So you didn't have any hearing loss at all?

It's a good sign you don't notice it at all in the mornings; many of us will hear it anytime we want. I wouldn't be surprised if it soon went away completely for you.

Good luck,
Markku

Thank's Markku, I don't think Im that lucky though, I am up at 4 30 am replying to your comment because I couldn't sleep because of the beep, I'ts loud, even when I am asleep I dreaming about this and ways to make it go away, what a nightmare, I'm very scared and I have a gut feeling its permanent.
The doc gave me a test prescription to go do the test but said to wait a week and then if the problem persisted to go and get it done, I wonder if I should go now instead of waiting, though from what I have read, if I have a chronic problem no test will make a difference right? Its getting worse not better.

No allergies that I know of, and no neck problem :(
I'm currently suffering from a ring that seems to be caused by allergies and I can breath fine. The doctor put me on some over the counter allergy medication and spray and the ring went away almost completely. Sadly, it seems to have lost effect.

I still have chronic tinnitus in my brain, mind you, but having an additional ring in your middle ear is very annoying.

Waiting doesn't really make a difference at this stage in our medical understanding; if you got chronic, you got it regardless of when they test.

Since your tinnitus can actually disappear, I'm confident it's being caused by something else. Bug your doctor for blood tests, even a CT scan. The list of things that can cause tinnitus is long.

Well here is an update guys, woke up with all kind of problems today, nausea, headaches, ear pressure and pain, dizzy, unbalanced and the ear ringing constant and loud, yesterday however, it went away, then came back, went away again, came back, changed to my left ear, went away and so on, also when I covered my ears it went away, well today it was different, I felt really really bad, went to my reg doctor and I was told to go home and rest with some vertigo medication, all my tests came back normal (which I'm glad), only time will tell I guess. I have a change in the tone today, gets higher then lower and so on, does that mean anything? Also when I turn up the music it goes over the music instead of masking it...

Thank you for taking the time to write to me, it really helps to talk to people that have the same problem instead of trying to explain to others, as it turns out my neighbor of 7 years has had tinnitus for most of her life, and says it gets easier and easier in case its chronic, but she also suggested to wait and see.

I will keep praying to God for my problem to go away soon and also for you guys, will pray for us to find the peace we need to cope with it and also to provide our scientists with the necessary tools to find us all a cure, Thank you again for your time ;)

P.S. My boss also has tinnitus in one ear due to hearing loss, he says his is a tune, I wish my was a tune instead of a tone..

Forgot to ask if there's anything you guys recommend for the damn headaches?

It sounds like you have an inner ear problem. I'm shocked but not surprised your doctor is not doing much for you; they rarely do with tinnitus.

Are you sure you don't have seasonal allergies?

Also, any over the counter painkillers will work. Some times painkillers like Advil can cause tinnitus, but it's usually always temporary.

Have they done an audiogram- a hearing test? If you have a sudden loss of hearing (in your auditory nerve), there is a window of approximately 30 days to treat you with a high dose course of steroids. Once you are past 30 days, there is little benefit.

However, the addition of dizziness makes me wonder if you have Meniere's syndrome?

Ya, your T being so new, many members here have written about getting a course of steroid asap. Can you get that from your doctor or ENT?

Don't let T bully you around . Live your life. If you get a headache take a pain med. It is rough at first but it gets better to the point where you will be back to where you we're before you noticed T. 6 months to 18 month. It just happens little by little. The pains and other symptoms are the somatic nervous system I believe We get damage in the audio nerves then the somatic nerves are also affected in general but I am no doctor T is just to complex to fix at the present time it is in my belief a nerve issue just simply damage to nerves .
