Past week tinnitus was so low, i could only hear it when covering my ears.

This week everything changed, it's loud, very loud. I can hear it outside, in the car etc (I have had spikes like this before but this is weird.)

Maybe something to do with my diet?

I've been having smoothies with agave syrup and this seems to be the reason, on top of that I had some salsa who had MSG on it.

So maybe it's a sugar/MSG spike.

It's so weird, having this type of volume and feeling a buzzing in the head.

Despite of that I had a good day at work and looking forward to watch Netflix.

Hope it's temporary.

Nah, I think it's all the sodium from that salsa and food. I be drinking 32 oz Gatorade a day that's like 200grams of sugar plus my vegetables and fruit smoothies that's like 400 grams of sugar, and my tinnitus don't noticeable change. Plus, that would be wierd that sugar causes the spike when sugar is our source of energy like sure there's different types of sugar but still though. I think ye should drink more water honestly to mabye cleanse ye body from all that salt. I drink gallon a day and just carry a plastic jug around and take sips whenever.

You're lucky if it's food related!
Easy to fix:)

Have you gone to a Dr yet? Tinnitus going from mild to severe would be a cause for alarm. I guess it's all relative though. I wouldn't consider tinnitus that you have to cover your ear to hear tinnitus at all.

@Jkph75 @GregCA
I know some people here have it worse! that why i called mine mild, but its deff tinnitus, since i have days where its loud, where its high pitched, theres a hissing, a tone, sometimes its very present, sometimes its reactive and im very used to it.... the thing is... that it fluctuates a lot, some days i have to cover my ears to listen for it ( i dont know if i can say that my "t is improving") and to be honest i would rate my tinnitus has mild , but other days it goes from loud... to super loud.

yesterday i had poor sleep because of my job, had sugar, MSG, ( i think this might be the cause, not sure)
and it was super loud. i had a light saber buzzing fest in the head, i could hear it every where. i didnt freak out of course but it wasnt something lovely, today... happy to report after a good night sleep im back to mild.

thanks for your reply!!

Do you get the light saber sound too. Thats what mine sounds like when its quite if i move my head i get that sound. Anyway mines been better the last 2 weeks apart from the last 3 days. Been trying to work out what is. Diets been good the only thing i think has changed was my stress levels were high. Trying to relax now to see if that makes a difference over the next week.

I guess something to consider is does it really fluctuate as much as you think it does. Everybody has good and bad days, but going from not being able to hear it to hearing it everywhere could indicate a bigger problem. Really you should get it checked.

i don think that anyone who already have tinnitus its lucky,
but i get your point...

Thanks for your reply Jkph, well...
i think the fluctations maybe food related,
like yestarday that my t was very loud, i had sugar + msg, i notice the difference in pitch just after eating those.
if something weird happens im gonna get it checked.
but right now feeling so much better.

Woo HOOO!! I went to the gym Friday and some people were slamming their equipment all over the place making a lot of noise! Friday's sleep was bad but now everything is back to normal!! It just takes time and sometimes spikes last a little bit longer than the last one!! We will get through this together!! :D

Smoothies are histamine overload, gave me hell.

My head sabers stopped after 2 to 3mos

What was the cause of it in the first place do u know?
Well I have severe sinus congestion, Allergies with a blocked eustachian tube. If u have one blocked ear you will hear the noise in the other ear fyi. The saber was all over my head, Is it inside your head?

Well I had a blocked ear for a week over a month and half ago. As my ear cleared its left a low rumbling sound. However sometimes it reduces and stops and when it does if i move my head i get the saber sound. The ent i saw said ive pushed fluid into the inner ear. Which is prob correct because it seems like fluid as it changes as i move my head. Mines been bad the last 2 days so im worrying like mad at the min. I dont know what damage has been done or whether this fluid will ever come out. Anyway you said 2 3 months and yours stopped but has yours got worse?

no it's a lot better

Its called hydrops in the inner ear. He prescribed me with serc 16 which ive been taking for 2 weeks now. Since then its been loud or stopped completely. Also low salt diet and loads of water each day. Im speaking with a hydrops specialist via Skype this evening. He has treaded alot of people with this condition successfully. I will update on hear what happens.

I believe that this is what I have too, however my tinnitus never completely stops. It's been 6 months and my hearing is still "normal", so they keep going back and forth about what is wrong with me. I get it tested again today, so we'll see. If you could let me know what you learn today, I would really appreciate it.

I will certainly let you know. What does your t sound like? Ive now found out that mine stops if Im not stressed and completely relaxed. It takes an hour then stops. Always comes back though in full force.

It always sounds different, but the same basic elements are there in different compositions. There is the low lawn mower sound, the light saber that can turn in a fog horn, the two tone flute, a steady pitch around 2000 Hz, and an ultra high pitched hiss that sometimes sounds like it's drilling into my head. Do you have any hearing loss? None of this is explained by my audiogram.

Someday you can retire and be in full control of your stress.

Look forward to your tinnitus-free, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, stress-free future!

I have some slight hearing loss in both ears but the ent doesnt think it was caused by this. Its only slight i had alot of ear infections as a child prob caused by that.
