Cause of Tinnitus
Fuck if I know
I want to start going to the gym again but the one I go has somewhat loud music...

My phone app detects around 59 decibels when it's only the music.

I don't know if it's placebo but I feel like I get spikes after visiting it and my ears kinda hurt after leaving maybe from the music.

Do you people wear earplugs/earmuffs when working out in loud environment and can't it be dangerous because of occlusion effect from all the weightlifting?

I find that it's not the music, but the loud metallic clacking of weight plates being put on.
Either way I normally walk around without ear protection, but for gym I do put on my earmuffs...

I went to the gym 4/5 times a week before T, now i reduced it to 2/3 times. Since my T wasn't caused by a noise trauma i went for the first month without plugs and haven't had any problems. Now i started wearing foam plugs, since near the speakers and deadlift platforms noise can be around 70-75db, So better safe than sorry.

However the last few times i always had a bit of a louder T the evening and next day, so i don't understand if it's the combination of plugs and squats or deadlift, or just the noise.

During squats while maintainig abdominal pressure i always notice a loud short eeeee while lifting, so i don't know if thats it.

I'm still not sure what to do.....

I have pretty much the same gym setup. Roughly 60db with the just the music.

I have gone to gym without ear plugs but nowadays I go to gym with re-usable musician's ear plugs.

My T temporarily raises slightly during the gym (I notice it when I go back to the changing room) but it goes back down to normal level quickly afterwards. Then again I have some Hyperacusis so it gets raised up from pretty much everything temporarily.

Yep at my gym a few days ago a dude just dropped a bunch of iron weights on top of one another and it was sooooo loud. I was on the treadmill which was already loud but stacked with the sounds of people dropping weight and releasing gym equipment without care is so panic inducing lol.

I just wear ear plugs at the gym and just idgaf the whole thing. Works for me =D

You don't have to go to the gym if you don't want to, it's quite easy to work out at home or naturally. Think about Rocky IV! In the montage Rocky worked out naturally in the wild and Drago did all the fancy gym stuff...and Rocky kicked his ass :D

I've never been a gym person, don't like the environment and stuff. I just work out at home or go for a run or something. Seems all the same to me, I just enjoy it this way more.

@Daemon22 I do orchestral arrangements, got to know the Dark Souls 3 composer Yuka Kitamura a little too. I released them all this year on Spotify

(edit - oh cool it embeds!)

For the gym ear muffs are better
It's a bit risky to use plugs as bacteria can multiply very fast in hot and sweaty environment and any small scratch on the ear canal surface can quickly lead to an outer ear infection which is a pain... and a further risk if not treated well using antibiotics which some can be ototoxic as a bonus
