Cause of Tinnitus
neck trauma
I live in England and I am thinking of going to Los Angeles in America to see a Chiropractor/Doctor, he has a Youtube Channel and is a very great doctor, he is just different and I have learned a lot from him just by watching his videos, he recently did a video on Tinnitus, because my Tinnitus is possibly caused by a neck and back problem, as it started after a massage and my back and neck dont feel right, I feel like he is the one to see.

he has cured people from all kinds of health problems, he has many testimonials.

Of course there are chiropractors in England but they are not the same as him, here are different kinds of chiropractors, just like in sports or with doctors, there are the average sports players and doctors then there are the best and special ones. I just don't think I can be happy with my life with this Tinnitus, even if its mild.

his Youtube channel is called John Bergman and his website is http://bergmanchiropractic.com/

If there was a "cure" out there, or a person capable of fixing Tinnitus, there would be a really long line leading to his/hers door. It would also be all over the Internet.

I spent a lot of money with Acupuncture and Homeopathy. The worst of it is when you see your hopes crash and the very good, very different, "oh my good he's so good it hurts", specialist tell you it's your fault (and it will never be about the method, they'll always say that "in your case it didn't work", or maybe you're sleeping wrong, etc.).

It is freaking hard, but if you can, avoid the temptation to go all over the world searching for a "cure". Do find someone with experience in the Tinnitus field. A Doctor, ENT, Psychologist etc. who has treated people with Tinnitus and can tell you what can and can't be done.

Best,
Zug

I'm sure you're aware that there is a lot of snake oil out there, and many charlatans. We T sufferers are an easy prey, as we are quite desperate about this condition, and don't always think rationally.

This said, T is a symptom, and your profile mentions you don't know exactly what causes it. I know you do think it's related to your neck/back.
If I were you I'd start looking into that first. Statistically, there area many cases of T due to problems in the ear, so it may be wise to start an examination there with your typical tests (fork, audiograms, etc).

T may go away if the causes for it can be fixed. Many people say "it can't be cured" because, well, in many cases we don't know exactly what is happening so we have no execution path, or we know it's related to sensorineural hearing loss and we know there is no current cure for SNHL.

Don't be discouraged, but at the same time, take the time to think rationally about how to debug your issue. If I were in your shoes I'd probably do a first level debugging effort right where you are, before going for the "big (and expensive) jump into the unknown".

Good luck.

To be blunt, I don't think the chiropractor will do anything for your tinnitus. Your money may be better spent on other treatments unless you wanted to take a trip to LA in the first place.

If your tinnitus is mild and easy to mask, you will most likely habituate in time.

Want me to go first and tell you?

Waste of time and money. Several friends have been to the House Institute in LA and I saw several alternative doctors and ENTs while I lived in LA. Sorry bud :( look for clinical trials in UK there are a lot more there than here in the states.

You never know what is going to help. There are people who get rid of their T, so you can't say for sure that it can't be fixed. I would say see if you can find the same kind of chiropractor in England first.

Well, if you've got the time and money, go for it. Try and think of other things you'd like to do in LA besides seeing the chiropractor, so at the very least you'll have a nice vacation out of it.

I've decided to see a chiropractor in London, Dr Antoni Jakubowski, he is a Gonstead chiropractor and has a lot of experience, this week I've recently had neck pain and headaches, back pain, jaw pain and TMJ symptoms, I couldn't work because of it, so something is not right with my spine and jaw I believe.

the chiropractor in LA I think is too expensive for me, he told me a price plan he has and said it can be around $3,600 for 3 to 4 adjustments per day for 2 weeks, plus the flights and food and places to sleep.. I'm not that rich

thank you for your nice reply, yes its very easy to panic when you first get T, your right, I should try and find out what my problem is in England first, which is what I'm doing now, I will see a high profile chiropractor in London tomorrow, and will see how it goes from there...

my T started after receiving this healing/deep tissue massage in Vietnam, the only thing I can think of is when she scraped my neck spine with her thumb or when she massaged my neck and jaw she must of done something then to cause my T, there are many nerves in the area, nerves control the function of the body, my problem could be from TMJ, pinched nerve in the neck, problem with the spine, I'm not sure but I will hopefully find out

@Jack Thompson have you had a hearing test?

No I haven't, I'm still in the early days of having T, I've had it for around 19 days, considering how my T started and the other symptoms I'm having (neck and back pain, TMJ) I will start with a good chiropractor, and see how it goes from there, nerves control the functions of the body, so I want to get my nervous system checked.

Fair enough but you can get your hearing tested for free in places like boots and specsavers and it takes about 20 mins max. May be worth a go..

@Jack Thompson
Hi Jack. I understand your worry and concerns about tinnitus and wanting to find a cure. Please take notice of Zug's comments as I fully agree with them. I am writing a post later about finding a "cure" for tinnitus that you might find helpful. Try to hold off for a while, as you're in the early stages of tinnitus and it's likely things will improve. All the best
Michael
