Has anyone habituated to low frequency noise?
In 5 years of dealing with this noise from hell I'm yet to hear of anyone who can live with this type of noise that not only is tinnitus but also a vibrating/shaking feeling!
What a nightmare!

I'm with you. I have had this for almost seven years. After a couple of years I got some what used to it. But last years it got worse and changed a bit after being on drugs after heart attack. Still strugling but there has been only three good or better periods untill now.

Sorry to hear that!
What does yours sound like and can you mask?
Are you saying it got better lately?

It sounds like a car idling. I often mask it by being close to an open window near the trafic or going outside my appartment and sit on the stairs. Theres a heater somewhere in the basement that hums slightly but in the right frequency.

The drone is what sent me into a month long panic attack. I only get it at bedtime, or sitting with my head turned too long. I can usually make it stop. I think it was also described on this forum as a sympathetic sound for the other ear. When I first noticed it I was like please just give me a louder whistle in my other ear and take this one away. Maybe since it doesn't stay This one really doesn't bug me so much anymore. Does yours stay on 24hrs?

24/7 :(

To me it sounds like hearing inside the ear, maybe your eardrum is shaking. I put a ice pack on my ears today. And it popped slightly twice. I think I would accept the drone over a few other noises I have experienced. There is a pop singer w the drone, Fka twigs.

That's exactly what it sounds like! I'm just not sure what's causing it!

I've had a low-frequency hum, off and on, for over 20 years. I've never habituated to it. When it first started, I had numerous tests done including three MRI's over the years. No cause was ever found, and I had no hearing loss. My hearing is still great for my age (56). Sometimes the humming will go away for up to a year and then mysteriously return like it did last week. Mine may have started due to anxiety and depression. I've been on the antidepressant Lexapro for ten years, but it may be time to try something new.

For me it's just normal. Idk. I feel my bed and head vibrate with low frequency but what I can't figure out is am I hearing subsonic sound or is it just "in my head" ?

It can probably be caused by a pinched nerve on your neck or upper back. Do any of you have this problem too???
