Cause of Tinnitus
Loud noise exposure / headphone accident maybe?
I only have mild tinnitus, but sometimes it's louder than other times and I can hear it above conversations for instance.

I don't want it to have an effect on my job, which it surely has, because 80% of the day I am thinking about it.

Are there any tips on regaining your focus? Or do you need to accept that my focus will drift about?

Can you play masking sounds? I do sometimes.
I use a pillow speaker on an extremely low level, and an aircon where I sleep. Sometimes my tinnitus reacts on it I think though.
At my desk at home I play some music. That's it.

I have the same exact same problem, right now. I have had tinnitus since 2013. First it began on my left ear, very mild. Time went by, and I got another tinnitus sound on my right ear, like a hissing, mild too. Nowadays I feel like I have completely unhabituated. I was on Fluoxetine 20 mg for about 2 years. I quiet them around 4 months ago, as an advice of my doc. Here I am, I have days where I feel I am back at 0. Anxiety, anguish and I can´t stop focusing on my bloody tinnitus, even though it is mild. I believe that the problem is my background of anxiety and obsessiveness and my tinnitus is a drop in an ocean of my fears.
