Noise exposure
Had this thing over 6 years now. Since recent dog barking incident that hurt my ears, my tinnitus has gone through the roof. Been 5 days now and no sign of improving yet. Anxiety bad, insomnia bad, T screaming so loud. Broke down today, in tears, frustrated and exhausted. Even after 6 years experience, it's so severe right now, I can't cope. Seeing doctor soon but don't expect anything useful to come from that. Don't know if I should be on forum right now the way I feel but maybe some kind words or advice from other long term severe T sufferers would help.

What can I say besides I know what you're experiencing right now. The T comes with ups and downs like a predator jumping it's prey. If you feel bad it'll get you untill you're up on your feet again. So hang in there Tweaker. Things will get better!

Thanks Mahr. Feel so bad today, like I can't put up with this torment any longer. Insomnia, anxiety and screaming ears make you feel so horrible. Wish I could get a few moments peace.

sorry to hear of your spike and the suffering from it. Spikes are like the storms that form in the ocean. It will take a while for its energy to dissipate. Distraction is a good strategy to deal with the spike. Doing something to occupy the mind is better than sitting still there to focus on the storm of T spike.

Distractions are like the land masses that will slow or weaken a hurricane, and they can weaken or dissipate the intensity of the T spike. The ears may take a while to settle after acoustic trauma. You are back to fight or flight mode, and the T signal once again is handled by the Amygdala instead of the pre-frontal cortex. But over time, it will shift back to the latter especially you don't supply more fuel to T with anxiety and stress. Give it time. Most spikes will settle down.

Try to mask your T and try to take something to calm your nerves, especially with natural supplements such as lemon balm, valerian tablets, chamomile tea and try Melatonin for sleep. Sleep deprivation is a sure fire for T. So try your best to sleep well with help of meds if needed and try some soothing masking sounds at bed time. Take good care. God bless.
