That is just not true.It depends on the cause of tinnitus. Many medications, impacted ear wax, and TMJD can cause tinnitus that's usually temporary. Tinnitus caused by these things can be "cured." However tinnitus caused by acoustic trauma/prolonged exposure to loud noise has no known cure or treatment that lowers the MML. Basically there is nothing known that you can do to even lower the volume.
If you had loud ringing that lasted for a week or two and it went away it means you are VERY close to getting lifelong tinnitus. There is no biological mechanism in humans to replace dead cochlea hair and nerve cells.

There is enough evidence that even people with accoustic trauma can recover. The haircells might be gone, but that doesn't mean that the T is for life..
I personally know quite some people that experienced this.
Hey guys, I had tinnitus back in 2015 due to loud noise exposed, it went away after almost a month. Fast forward to now, this past Monday 06/27/17 I woke up in the middle of the night to the ringing noise in my ear, I have no idea why. I hope mine goes away like it did back in 2015.
My niece had the whooshing type of T; seemingly brought on by stress. She said it went away on its own after about six months.
I developed a new and horrendous noise when I got TMJ 10 years ago. Following 5 months or so of treatment, it went.
I bit into a sandwich one day, heard a 'twang' sound up by my left jaw joint and instantly a new noise came on, which grew worse... Like a radio being turned up and down rapidly. It went 5 months later thank God.How did the tinnitus react to your TMJ?

I got a lower mouth splint from my dentist that I wore as much as possible, to stretch the face muscles and I saw a cranial osteopath once a week. What kind of treatment did you receive for it?
