Has Anyone Been Tested for Objective Tinnitus?

Objective tinnitus is tinnitus that can be heard by a medical practitioner with a stethoscope.

My ENT doctor didn't do that test with me. It's got me thinking that maybe many ENTs don't perform that test. If that is the case, there could be a market for a specially made stethoscope for tinnitus sufferers. I'm looking to design a product and it would be nice to serve the tinnitus community.

So did your practitioner stick a stethoscope in your ear to listen to determine if your tinnitus is audible?

A good practitioner will get right up close and listen. Dr Nagler who used to work the Dr's corner here once straw-polled us to see who had had an ENT listen to their ear for objective tinnitus as part of ruling in or out differential diagnoses. It was almost unanimous that no-one had been managed that way. The "Specialists" as it turned out didn't even know or care to perform this basic assessment. This lack of medical curiosity (for want of a better term) was global as we on this forum were the participants in the thread, and it was a big thread.

The doctors, just like other people, don't much care, unless they themselves get tinnitus. Then they also experience this marvel that is modern medicine. Nothing modern about it I'm afraid.

No he didn't and that was after me explaining in detail my low frequency hum. I remember reading that someone's ENT specialist had examined their ear and could hear it. They had an operation and it managed to cure it. What is this apathy towards tinnitus sufferers by the medical world? Are we really such a lost cause once we mention the word 'Tinnitus" to them? Apparently its "very common you know" I don't get it, I really don't.
