Has Anyone Ever Had Hearing Aids but with the Volume Lowered Instead of Heightened?

So I was wondering if anyone has ever had hearing aids but with the volume lowered instead of heightened?
I've heard a few people mention this and I'm wondering is this legitimate?

I did when I first developed T, H and hearing loss. I would lower it due to H but over time I have grown somewhat used to it. I still play with the volume but overall I have kept it at where it should be at.

It depends on if you have considerable hearing loss. If you don't there's no benefits.

I lowered it for 4 months then now its at medium

This seems like a great solution to some of the common problems from T and H. It says on the page that it is not meant for tinnitus(because it hasn't gone under certain medical testing) but it does have a few functions that seem like they could help. They say you can lower the volume as well as play white noise in the background.

Sounds like really expensive ear plugs to me. What would you be trying to accomplish?

I'm confused on what you mean here. Does this mean you lower the volume of your aids, but you were still getting _some_ amplification above your normal hearing thresholds, just not the full amount needed?

Yes, I had H so i slowly increased when it stop being so intrusive. Then the new volume tries to covers the T

I have both T & H.
So, the purpose of hearing aid is to cover the T sound ? The T still exists (not reduced) ?
