Has anyone found any method that improves somatic tinnitus?

Many people seem to have tinnitus that changes a bit when they move their jaws but my father seems to have extreme somatic tinnitus that greatly increases in sound if he moves his jaw or even chews.

Does anyone else get this?

Yup. Chewing, yawning, head turning, bending down, pressing behind my ears. All cause T to go from screeching to crazy high squealing.

Hmmmmm did you say yours was neck injury linked? My father has a sore neck

Yep. C1/c2 was out for an entire year. I'm an idiot. I accepted nerve pain as my new normal. I didn't think tinnitus was ever on the cards.

Did your neck pain precede your tinnitus by some time?

I had neck pain along with a constant headache for two years and both went away partly due to physiotherapy. I suspect you've tried everything but might be worth a try for you, I have put my father onto it.

Yeah neck pain and nerve symptoms for a year after car crash and then T started after year of intense stress and depression related to the pain but also I was off work, dog nearly died of a mystery virus, house flooded, a friend owed me 40k, partner had a breast cancer scare. It was a heavy year. I thought it was the worst year of my life. Boy was i wrong.

Dr. Jay Hobbs seems like a decent guy; he's got a number of youtube videos, with at least one which focuses on somatic tinnitus. It seems to be one type of tinnitus that responds pretty well to specific therapies (IIRC).

I have somatic tinnitus, but moving my neck or jaw doesn't always raise or lower my tinnitus, only seldom. Also I was wondering if anyone has times when they feel their ears are full and other days when they don't feel full. My ears do that and it's not linked to my tinnitus being louder when my ears are full. Everything seems random.

@Agrajag364 Somatic tinnitus of the jaw is caused by buccal nerve pain. There's thousands of articles on TMJD, but very few discuss the one difference that causes somatic tinnitus as with jaw movement and that is the buccal nerve. All the other jaw aspects are the same for those without somatic tinnitus. Not mentioned within this article is when there is buccal nerve upset not only is the C1 C2 in play, but the C5- C6 and the scalene muscle.
