Have You Had a Spike Begin the Day After a Loud Event? (Or Did It Begin Immediately?)

Cause of Tinnitus
Noise-induced
Two nights ago I accidentally hit an empty bottle (if you must know, yes it was beer) HARD against a glass candle. (The sound measured at around 100 decibels at my ear level - recreated by another person.)

The next morning the volume of my pure-tone tinnitus tone had noticeably increased and I had temporary threshold shift symptoms for most of the day. Now, the day after my T is still louder.

I feel certain this is caused by the smashing of glass because although my T fluctuates in volume, it doesn't in this way. (The pure-tone has been the same.)

Have you all had something like this happen where your spike didn't begin right after a noise exposure?

Well, I've done it again. Last eve, I dropped something metal into flatware an it made a huge crash. That registered at 98 decibels from my ear level. I can't win. I'm staying inside like a prisoner this summer trying to pamper my ear and I'm the one screwing it up because i'm clumsy. Do you ever feel like smashing your head into a wall???? That's what I'd like to do.

The freakin T is louder still since last eve with the train screeching sound now. Obviously hoping this is only a spike.... but who knows.

Tinnitus is so fucking fun i love this fucking roller coaster I'm on. Yesterday was 3 months since my ear was assaulted by a moron whistling in a bar and i celebrated by making it even worse!!! I was actually doing better before 3 nights ago and was going to write something to that effect here... oh well.

I guess this shit is normal huh? A lot of u have had T a lot longer and live w these ups and downs and know it's just par for the course.

I never get spikes from noise that doesn't last for more than a second. I have had spikes from sleep deprivation which start right when I start skipping sleep and stop when I've rested again. The spikes and increases I've had have been from longer noise exposures and usually started 24 to 36 hours after the exposure.

Please don't be too hard on yourself. These things happen and usually the spike will go away. Wearing earplugs permanently isn't an option either, so you're doing the best you can. If you really drop things all the time, then you may want to try to be more careful or switch to plastic cups or something :)
Just try to relax and not to worry, that's the best thing you can do right now.

I've never had a spike but I don't have a pure tone. It's more like a white noise hum. I wonder if the type of sound you have makes you more vulnerable to spikes/ further damage?

Thanks for your replies. I'm feeling a bit better now . Well, overall, lol. The volume did come down after several days and then I made more noise again yesterday (95 decibels) so it's back up again. I'm feeling more confident though that it will be be ok again (knock on wood.)

I really need to be more careful. Funny thing is, seems like sometimes the more careful i am, the more i screw up. oh well.
