Head/Body Movement Spikes Tinnitus in One Ear

So, anyone with this kind of tinnitus?

For the last 2 weeks I have been experiencing this in my left ear and I am clueless as to what causes it.

My tinnitus spikes during movement of head from side to side, like shaking my head, and when I run or jog.

When I nod my head or keep my head and body still I can't hear it.

I'm pretty sure it is some kind of somatic tinnitus, but I am left in the dark on what kind.
Being a veteran I thought I had experienced it all when it came to tinnitus.

I definitely defer to @Greg Sacramento. I have a similar thing going on. Really loud high-pitched tinnitus mostly in my right ear that most of the time is modulated by head movements, chewing, certain jaw movements. My ENT just referred me to a cranial facial specialist.

I have whiplash and my tinnitus gets louder with head movement. In physical therapy right now. The more pain in neck more ringing it seems. I have a fractured vertebra thats healed and a herniated disk. ENT said they have never heard of this but from what I read it exists. Physical therapy is the only solution to that it seems. Oh and a steroid injection perhaps into neck.

I started seeing a chiropractor and he did some manipulation on my neck. I will have to ask him about doing an X ray.

This specific part of my 4 different sounds is only affected by head/neck movement and only in one ear. Chewing, yawning or any other movement with my jaw, does nothing to any of my sounds. After seeing a chiropractor I did have 2 days of silence before it came back again. Tried doing all sorts of stretching, heat pack etc. but nothing helped. Seeing the chiropractor again today for the second time, and hopefully I will see some improvements again. Just afraid it was a coincidence it got better the last time.

It's driving me mad, and it has been nearly two months now, so I'm starting to lose hope it will fade.

Hopefully the treatment I'm getting will work over time.

Possible that one sternocleidomastoid muscle is exciting your auditory nerve on that side causing most of your tinnitus. But, you may have mid-range hearing frequencies problems and I wonder if your audiogram is shaped like a U.

Do you know if anyone else in your family experienced hearing loss before middle age?

I got back from chiropractor. After 3 hours, the tinnitus in question is gone again.
I wonder how long it will last this time

I have a mid-range hearing loss yes, it runs in my family and we are about 6-7 with hearing aids because of this.

None of the other members are suffering from tinnitus but me, and I guess it has something to do with age and the time I grew up. I did a lot of stupid choices when it comes to hearing and loud music in my teens. My baseline tinnitus I've had since I were 16, now I'm 40 and pretty much habituated to it. But this new thing is tough.

The noise came back again during sleep and woke me up about 02:00 am.

Not sure what to think, but there must be some muscle or neck related issue to this. It feels almost as if a tiny muscle in my ear is tense or irritated in some way. It takes very little movement in my neck to "activate" it, but some positions are not affecting it at all. When I sit in my chair keeping my head still I can't hear it. When I lie down in bed I can't hear it. But it appears immediately when I shake my head from side to side.

I´ll keep updating this thread in case someone experiences the same thing.

The last couple of days there has been some changes in the intensity of the sound. I have to move my head/neck more than before before I hear it and it has become a little weaker. I got the 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine last week and have not been seeing my chiropractor since then. Will be seeing him again in the upcoming week since I have experienced some changes since I started seeing him.

I have a thread where I talked about my recent experience, and I believe that I am slowly getting to a solution.

In the past I found a similar thread where someone said their tinnitus was caused by cervical spine issues.

I will try to find it.

And check that recent thread of mine.
