Exposure to loud noise/music is the most common cause of tinnitus. Do you regularly listen to music through headphones or attend places where loud music is played? If yes this could be the cause of your tinnitus. If you do listen to music through headphones then I advise giving it a rest for a while.Hi this is lakshmi here from India, I got ringing sound in my ears for 4 days, I'm seeing hell in my life... @fishboneLife is a beautiful thing, why commit suicide? Tinnitus is not the end of the world. Love yourself and adapt and cope. Trust me, you can do this!

Christophe,
I have a strong feeling it was caused by loud sounds, probably headphones.

I m suffering T since from 4 months. In my case, I was talked with my friend for an hour and when I took out my earphone, it was started ringing in my right ear. And then after some days I listened it both ears ,also in my head. 1st one month it was really unbearable and I decided the same like u. Now I m still fighting with it and i get a lot of helpful understanding from this forum which made me a hope to live. Try to be calm and consult with your GP. I think ginkgo biloba tablet could help for the initial stage as it was helped me a lot to reduce the volume. Hope all will be under control. Best of luck.Hi this is lakshmi here from India, I got ringing sound in my ears for 4 days, I'm seeing hell in my life... Thinking to commit suicide
Headphones should be banned because they are dangerous!
@fishbone
In principle I agree with you Fishbone. However, let me tell you something about severe intrusive tinnitus which I don't believe you have ever experienced because of the statement that you have just made.
Tinnitus comes in many forms and intensities and no two people have it the same. When it is mild or moderate, many people are able to habituate to it and carry on with their life without it making too much of an impact on their wellbeing. However, when tinnitus is severe and intrusive and this level is sustained for a period of time, it is a completely different kettle of fish. Under these circumstances, it can be seriously debilitating and can drive a person to do something to themselves that they normally wouldn't do - it is out of desperation to get away from the cacophony of noise that is in their head and ears. Fortunately, with help and time the majority of people don't reach this stage.

People are different, we all react to life and its challenges in different ways....

Do you? Haven't you mentioned how good your hearing is? How much you enjoy hearing all the detail in your hifi stereos? How severe of tinnitus could you possibly have experienced (if you even have, we wouldn't know). b.s Just because you can't cope doesn't mean someone else can't.
You make a valid point fishbone and I stand corrected for I now believe you've experienced severe tinnitus. Positivity is the way forward with this condition and I hope that you continue to be that way .Trust me, i have XXXXXX tinnitus and its horrible and i been there and done that for almost 30 years. My attitude will never change about life and how I live it People are different, we all react to life and its challenges in different ways....
He actually copes.Do you? Haven't you mentioned how good your hearing is? How much you enjoy hearing all the detail in your hifi stereos? How severe of tinnitus could you possibly have experienced (if you even have, we wouldn't know). b.s

@christophe,I was wondering if with all the new improvements in technology, headphones are more or less dangerous than before ???
He actually copes.
I don't
Sentences like "tinnitus is not the end of the world" are the last things you want to say to someone who just got T and doesn't understand what's happening.
"Come one ! It's not the end of the world !"
The person won't understand why she's suffering so much then.
Something like : "Ok you'll have to face a difficult time for a few days, but after that you'll be fine, there are many ways to overcome it".
The words we use are quite important. No need to be jugdemental like fishbone was.
Yes u r right.....Christophe,
I have a strong feeling it was caused by loud sounds, probably headphones.
Headphone use is one of the most common causes of tinnitus. I believe if you stop using headphones (and I mean permanently stop) it is likely that your tinnitus will reduce to a very low level and could go away completely. The choice is yours.Yes u r right.....

How loud is your tinnitus? Do you hear it only in quiet places, or do you hear it everywhere?
It's only four days, you can still go to a doctor and get prednisone. Hurry and get yourself to an ENT if you still haven't.
Don't kill yourself yet, things can improve. Give yourself some time to learn to cope with this.
By the way, where in India are you from? Bangalore is lovely, but I have yet to visit the Taj Mahal.

Hoping for the best, ENT doctor advised me to drink lots of water n take steam ...With an acoustic trauma there is a chance that your Tinnitus will fade away in time. Give it some time and give some rest to your ears.
Some people may recommend NAC supplements, possibly steroids, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy: talk to a hearing specialist about it (not just any doctor) as soon as you can, as time is of the essence.
Good luck.
