Cause of Tinnitus
Flying then Sport (Probs)
Hello everyone, I'm James and live in Switzerland. I hope you are all well! I have recently joined the site. I had tinnitus in my right ear but after doing (probably) too many pushups, it changed and became somewhat pulsile. Has anyone else developed T through sport?

Not me, but it could be barotrauma from pressure during pushups/weightlifting. Best not to hold your breath when doing heavy lifting/exercise and exhale on the negative movement.
Hope your T is not too bothersome.

Hi James, welcome to the site.
The answer is yes! I was doing push ups when I began to feel some kind of pressure in my ears and just under them. My right ear became blocked, as if it needed to pop. Every time it would pop but not clear. About 2 weeks later there was a major pressure difference in my ear and I woke up one night to a loud ringing. Doc thinks I have ETD at the moment still... waiting to see an ENT. My ears still block regularly and I sometimes still hear a slight popping or crackling!
Hope you are well mate! :)

Hello Everyone:) I'm seeing an ENT 2moro Paul have had ringing for 6 weeks after sinus infection not sure if TMJ or ETD

Hi Cillian,
My Doc thought it was Sinus infection as well as I did have the symptoms... but I remember having extreme pressure while doing push ups, so I'm still not really sure which is the cause.
Hope its goes well for you at ENT Cillian, let us know! :)

Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated :). Tinnitus is a mad thing to have. I definitely think it could be a barotrauma what caused the whole thing. Sometime the intensity increases if I move my neck about. I have had an MRI but nothing foudn. Does anyone know of any good therapies or further diagnostic for this?
