I've been hearing (not so) loud ringing noises in my right ear for nearly a week now. ENT doctor says it's not confirmed to be 'T' yet. So I'm an 18 y/o student, and one night this 'sound of life' decided to be a part of me. I'm new to all this, so I would like to ask questions. My first would be, what's the best way to deal with the noise at night? Also, I know 'T' refers to tinnitus itself, but what does 'H' mean? Been seeing that word being used around.

Welcome Hariz! Your T is very early so good chance it could go away. At night, try listening to light mellow music. I used to use my iPad to play sounds or music next to my bed. You can also buy a sound pillow or get a white noise sound machine. H is hyperacusis. Look it up here on Tinnitus Talk. There are many threads about it.

The chances your T go away are better if:
-You didn't get it from hearing damage
-You are young
-The T is intermittent/unstable rather than constant
-You haven't had it for more than 6 months

OP you have at least 3 out of the 4 good signs. I would bet on a full recovery!

As for dealing with the noise at night, I would advise against masking. Keep your room still and silent if you can to let your ears and brain reset. Use melatonin to get to sleep

Thank you! I hope it does get better. I haven't needed to use any masking so far.

Six months from now, could you return to this topic and give an update on your condition?

Six months? I guess I'll have to mark it on my calendar xD but OK, hopefully I'll remember and it'll get much better by then
Actually, a few hours ago, the noise suddenly came in really high pitched for a few seconds, and then it died down and got soft... Idk if I should worry about that. Happened twice already

@uae96 I want to dig my ear to remove some earwax, is it recommended? I haven't removed earwax in months, I can feel it filling up in my ear
You can only make T less worse by removing earwax but dont go deep in it.
I have the radio Always on at night and turn it off and listen to T and fall asleep lol.
The high pitch for seconds is normal that have everyone.
If you only hear it at night good for you because a lot of people here hear it all the time. Better avoid loud sounds because if you make it worse you cant go back. Dont play with fire.
