My name is Chris, and I'm a 56 year old network engineer with tinnitus caused by vaping. I started smoking e-cigs a couple of years ago, beginning with the horrible tasting ones available at the corner convenience store and winding up with sub-ohm tanks from Smok and VaporFi. I made my own coils with kanthal wire and also bought premade clapton coils. I tried various flavors but wound up vaping tobacco flavored e-liquids.
I stopped vaping three days ago because my left ear ached. My left lower rearmost molar ached too, and I figured the two aches were somehow related. My left ear had been feeling strange for at least the past several weeks. It didn't hurt, but it felt wet inside. Oh, and the tinnitus couldn't be ignored anymore. It had gotten to the point where it hurt to chew food, and the pain deep in my ear was interfering with my sleep. So I went to the dentist, thinking he wouldn't find anything wrong with my teeth (he didn't) but would probably prescribe antibiotics to fight a probable infection that could be causing the tooth and ear pain (he did).
The ear and tooth pain has subsided substantially, but the tinnitus remains. It's my left ear, mostly. I hope this isn't permanent. Really glad I found this forum.
