Hey Guys,

So glad I found this forum since it doesn't make me feel like I'm alone. I have had a ringing sensation in my year for about 5 days now and I'm waiting for my authorization for to go through. I will hopefully see an audiologist by next week.

It's been so terrifying for me at this point. I hear this constant 24/7 seashell empty loud sound on my left ear and I have lost some hearing on both ears. Sometimes, the seashell emptiness turns into loud high pitch ringing and sometimes it sounds like a high pitch alternating sound.

I don't know what to do until then I feel like the sound is going to damage my ear somehow or it already has and I'm not too sure when exactly I will see a specialist. I am trying to relax myself and I know that this may be permanent but I've read so many stories where it does get better and at the end of it, it is just sound. However, at this moment I have not been able to concentrate, focus, speak, think, and talk as well as I did without T. I'm just so confused, depressed, anxious, and eager to get this annoying sound out of my ear.

I wish for all of us to get better as soon as possible and to stay in a healthy mind state.

Welcome to the forum! T is not going to damage your ear so I think you can relax (?) there....

You are sooo early into this. I would not get worked up over the posts on this site too much. My suggestion is get into an Audiologist and ENT asap. They will work together to understand and interpret your hearing tests and suggest the next course of action. This could be steroids or it could be seeing a neurologist...

Thank you so much for responding to me. Yes, when I went to the ER they gave me prednisone 20mg take 3 at a time so a 60mg dosage once a day for 5 days. This has not helped me at all unfortunately. Multiple doctors but no specialists have checked my ears for the meantime and everything is fine there's no inflammation, liquid, infection, or wax build up. I'm so eager to go see a specialist. The sounds in my head unfortunately are so heavy.

Hi. I've had this high pitched ringing in my right ear for 7 years now and it haven't really bothered me until last week one night. It was so loud and I could also hear my own pulse along with the ringing. Being an anxious person, I could not stop thinking about it since which results in sleepless nights and not enjoying my days as much since I'm always thinking about it. I'm so scared because I've had it for so long and I'm pretty sure there's some permanent damage done and the ringing is never going away and I'll have to live with it for the rest of my life. I sometimes listen to Rain sounds or white noises on Spotify to try to mask the noise but it isn't loud enough to do so and I can't sleep when there is a loud noise. Ughhh I just hate this! I'm 14 years old and I reallyyyy don't want to live with this for the rest of my life. :( hope you take care and I'm here for support!

Hi there,

I am glad you have found this forum too. I don't want you to feel alone.

I am over 4 years in now with what I would regard as loud tinnitus and hyperacusis.

I will say, that whilst I was starting to habituate last year, the stem cells I received seems to have helped my spikes, and reactive component of my tinnitus (hyperacusis). I didn't actually do the stems either for my t.

The noise wont damage your ears. Relaxing yourself is precisely what you need to do. Have a look at Julian cowan hills youtube videos on tinnitus. He speaks of calming the central nervous system down. Also have a look at the back to silence video and thread. (mindfulness cbt)

I can tell you that whilst you are struggling at the moment, you will eventually adapt as many of us here have.

Do you know what may have caused your hearing loss?

Thank you, Deb, for your response. I've looked into hyperacusis and I'm not sure if I have it but my ears are so sensitive to sound. Each time I hear a loud sound or something I'm not used to it spikes the ringing in my ears.

I have also experienced hearing loss on both ears and it feels as if I have pressure in both of them.

I am trying my best to relax however I just feel like tearing up each and every hour.

Thank you so much for your advice. I will check those videos out when I feel a bit more emotionally better.

Thank you so much for your reply. I understand how devastating it must be for you. It's so hard to live with this but millions of people have learned to deal with this and I'm hoping we will as well. I understand how scared you are. I suffer from anxiety and depression and this has just ruined my appetite, my emotions, increased fear, anxiety, depression, and anger.

I hope the best for all of us to get through this one day.
