Tinnitus Since
09/2014
I am 58 yrs old woman from India... I am probably suffering from tinnitus as I have been hearing pulsating sound in both of my ears since last 15 days...my bp is normal...I'm asthma patient but it is under control with asthalin inhaler...I ut for the treatment!...am also suffering with sinusitis...is it a serious problem?..is it curable?...I had taken co-symoxyl*625 course just before the problem get started...could that be the reason?..frequently I get headache which gets worse on lying...is it related to that?...wonder how to go about the treatment?

Hello ,and glad you've found TT ,I suffer from rhinitis as well ,along with tinnitus ,maybe if you've got sinus infection ,it could just be that ,that's causing it ,if you've not had that before .
Hope you improve ,just stay looking in ,fair few on sight have this pulsating your describing ,there put you straight on it ,maybe check on the past threads .always good information available on TT ,they know so much ,more than any dr I promise .Yes I suffer greatly from headaches ,mixture of allergies and tinnitus running side by side .
No cure yet ,but all on TT live in great hope. Get to see a dr as soon as you can okay .

How does the tinnitus sound? How fast is the pulsating?
Maybe it is related to the asthalin inhaler, could there be a connection?

tinnitus sounds like heart beat...it cannot be related to asthalin inhaler as for the past two years I have not been using it...for the past two years I am living in Melbourne and not having asthma attacks...tinnitus started only 10-15 days before!

Marlene , thanks for concern and useful information!...my sinus problem is very old...I already went to Dr. and told everything...she just cleaned my ear wax and sent me back saying it will be fine now....but it is not fine and fear it could be for lifelong...could it be related to tumor? next month going back to India, may be I would see a specialist there!

its best to get it diagnosed properly instead of assuming what it could be..
An mri would probably answer to your question if it could a tumor or not. [ the sooner the better]
if the pulsating T sync with heart beat its something related to blood circulation.also suggest taking turmeric daily, it will help with blood flow and inflammation, fish oil might also help.

On spiritual path Yes go get an MRI ,I had one few years ago.,all was okay ,with this sinuses and tinnitus going together ,but sure it's just what it is ,2 running side by side ,and infections from the sinuses increases your tinnitus ,like what's happening to me now ,as I've picked up a virus that's now going around here .Do you get neck ache ,that's another thing I've had for 9 years ,again from a virus back then . so do get ENT to have a look at you ,write down all that's going on ,so you don't miss telling them something you wished you had .
Best wishes ,stay as well as you can .

Hi, Onspiritualpath,

I agree with the others about going back to a doctor, and being checked out. I have pulsatile tinnitus, too; I've had it for over four years now. It started suddenly, and I first noticed it at night, just like you did.

Just to be sure, is your pulsating sound definitely in exact sync with your heartbeat? You can tell by taking your pulse, and counting the beats you feel in your wrist for one minute. If they are the same as the pulsating in your ear, that's pulsating tinnitus. If not, it could be tensor tympani syndrome, or something similar.

If it doesn't go away soon, it's best to have it checked out. The doctor may suggest an MRI or CT scan of the area. The first test I had was a CT scan of the temporal bone, to be sure there was no bone thinning in the area of the ear that could be causing me to hear the sound. Then, later, I had an MRI and MRA (with contrast) of the head, to see if there could be a tumor or fistula. I didn't have anything unusual, and to date, I haven't found the cause. However, mine has gotten calmer and easier to live with.

Many ENT doctors don't know a lot about pulsatile tinnitus, so if you go to one and don't get any answers, then you might want to check with a neurologist or neurotologist, who might have more understanding of what your condition is.

Good luck, and keep us posted on how you're doing!

...yes, my tinnitus is in sync with the heartbeat..
...since I cannot afford treatment while in Australia, I shall wait for one more month to get it started when back in India...till then trying yoga and jalneti and other natural remedies...finger crossed...let's see what happens..
