Cause of Tinnitus
infection?
Just found the forum. Good to know there other's out there who can relate and share. I think I got it when I had a long case of a sinus infection (a couple of weeks) that eventually went into my ears which felt like they were "plugged up". When that subsided I was left with the ringing or what sounds more like "crickets out doors in the summer time with the windows open". Only its year round! Saw a IEN specialist about a year ago. Had the hearing test and they said I have some hearing loss toward the high end (which makes sense as that is probably the frequency of my tinnitus), and there is nothing I can do about it. Okaay. So I just put up with it I guess. Its not as noticeable during the day that much, but more so when its quiet when I'm trying to read or fall asleep. Would love to do something about but I'm trying to avoid the scammers. That's why I'm here.

How long have you had it? It's really nothing after you've had it for awhile. I like to see it as similar to a shadow...if you keep focusing you have a shadow it'll always annoy you. But if you accept it as part of life, everything's harmless. Just like a shadow.

A few years, I don't know exactly - that's why I put 03/2011 roughly. Yeah, its always there like white noise. I've found meditative techniques to be the best in dealing with it. Oh, there it it. Oh well. Time to move on...

If it is quiet and you find the T annoying, you may want to consider masking the T, at least partially so you don't have to focus on the T. Try a sound machine like those from Sharper Image, or sound pillow, CD player etc. If you have PC, try download this free sound generator 'aire freshener'. It has many sounds to choose from.
