Cause of Tinnitus
140dB B R U H moment
I had my ear syringed recently. It got rid of all the wax and luckily it was soft. But ever since (happened a day ago) I have had louder tinnitus.

Will it go back down? I don't want a permanent spike from this...

Did you apply eardrops to your ears 3x a day for 7 to 10 days before the earwax was removed? Even though the wax was soft, it shouldn't have been removed without using the eardrops in the manner I've said, as there is a risk the tinnitus will become louder. Hopefully it will calm down.

How loud was the syringing itself?

I've seen so many stories like this, I'll never let anyone muck around with syringes or god forbid suction in my ears again.

Not loud at all. If I had to grade it I would say 60dB. It's a lot quieter today but I still want to make sure it didn't cause permanent damage. I'm not getting syringed again. I'm still working on reducing the tinnitus.

Same here, never ever again will that happen. Ever.

Maybe it could be due to how heavy handed they are and would be more gentle if had tinnitus too!
Also using olive oil 2-3times a day for 7 to 10 days is a must.

I had very heavy wax build up. My ENT first removed half of it and ask me to use ear drops for another week . And then, the second time he completely removed it. He used manual method both times. He is pretty old in his 60s.

I'd imagine so. Probably a difference in sound and you brain needing to adjust. Then you conciously notice the difference and the anxiety starts the cycle which makes it worse. Never forget, T is a symptom not a disease. Unfortunately we seem to play a big part in its existence with how our brains function. I'd strongly consider doing a week or two of anti-depressants to level off. I always found that helped me when I was slipping out of control. Really helps to get one back on track.

You must be new to tinnitus. Welcome. Anyways it's not a symptom its a brain disorder in itself. The "It's a symptom" crap comes from people who still unironically think that tinnitus is always caused by some sort of issue, that when fixed will solve the tinnitus. Example: People thinking that fixing hearing loss will cure tinnitus.

Anyways I didn't lose any hearing, in fact it got a lot better. Here's hoping your tinnitus goes away, it's certainly a possability.

That's what I mean, it's symptomatic of any number of reasons of your brain not working properly. Believe I've been there. Just over 5 years ago I was under a tremendous amount of stress I developed something called "hyperventilation syndrome" it's where feel like you can't catch a full breath. It's even scarier than T because if you can't respirate.... Point is, I changed my diet radically, went for walks, talked to mental health professionals, and too anti-D/A meds for a few weeks and after about 6 weeks I finally leveled out and it stopped.Doing all these things for stress related T is no different. There's all kinds of T and most of it isn't related to actual physical damage but vastly more about stress. And when your mind gets into that negative feedback loop it's self-perpetuating - like a car spinning its tires in the mud - you need help to get it out and back on the road again. I'll get pas this by doing all those things again - unless the cause is actually medical - do not doubt. Good luck as well.

Omg @threefirefour why did you do this?

Thought is was a good idea. It wasn't but my tinnitus went down.

I got hearing loss from it. Dont ever do it again. my T is still moderate-severe and I can hear it over everything.

How long it took to get better?

Mine didnt get better. I did the test on Jan 15 and Jan 16 i noticed that I worsened. Do you have any hearing loss from it?
